Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard heaped praise on Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with arch rivals AC Milan.
The midfielder has been a key player at San Siro for the past four years, winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
He was also a key part of the Italian side that won Euro 2021, and he has done well
He is now being pursued by Jurgen Klopp’s side and is expected to cost around £75 million.
Gerrard said of the 26-year-old: “He’s creative, he can score important goals. I saw him against England in Naples and he was involved in every part of the game.
“He did really well against Bellingham, he was also a good age when he came into his prime. Against one of his Italian teammates [Sandro] Also Tonali, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top because we know the midfield is so important.’
Inter Milan got off to an excellent start at the San Siro, running into a 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes.
Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the early goals, with Stefano Pioli’s side already facing a major challenge to push back into the tie.
