Kate Middleton’s VERY expensive Coronation week wardrobe

Charles would approve! How Kate’s £5,000 Coronation wardrobe featured recycled pieces, British designers and high street buys for the biggest week on the royal calendar

It may have been one of the biggest weeks of her life, but Kate Middleton proved during the coronation celebrations that her style is as down to earth as ever.

Rather than splurge on expensive jewelry and multiple new designer outfits, the 41-year-old Princess of Wales opted to recycle some pieces she already had in her wardrobe for this week’s high-profile event.

Known for her love of the high street, the mother of three often chooses to re-wear garments from past engagements to royal events.

And this week was no different, as Kate opted to wear just £5,000 worth of new clothes.

Meanwhile, her red, white, and blue outfits seemed like a subtle nod to the Union flag.

Dressing up literally involves showing up at an event taking the theme of the occasion very literally,

The mother of three is known for her love of literal clothing and regularly gives nods to the event she attends and the countries she visits with her clothes.

She often chooses to wear colors that reflect the flag of the area she is visiting.

And this past week, she stepped out in a very specific and patriotic color palette of red, white, and blue.

While her coronation dress was made by her favorite designer brand Alexander McQueen, Kate wore a number of high street labels for the celebration.

She wore a new vibrant blue dress from royal favorite Self Portrait for the coronation reception.

Meanwhile, she also opted for a custom Jenny Packham dress for a walk in Windsor.

However, most of her outfits were made around pieces she already had in her wardrobe.

She wore her bespoke Eponine London coat again with her Suzannah Flippy Wiggle dress to hit a pub in Soho on Friday to kick off the celebrations.

And she opted to wear a scarlet Alexander McQueen suit for Sunday night’s coronation concert.

The king is said to cover the cost of Kate’s wardrobes for “work-related” appointments through his official household budget, but it’s not clear if the princess always pays full price for outfits or gets discounts.

Below, FEMAIL reveals the new purchases Kate has made during official engagements, taking into account only the value of items not previously seen in public.

Where outfits have been tailored for the Duchess of Cambridge, the price has been estimated.
