Real Housewives of Miami star Guerdy Abraira, 45, revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She shared the devastating news on Instagram, posting a lengthy message alongside a beautiful photo of herself.

“I was in St. Barts and was having the time of my life when my doctor called me with the results after a regular mammogram checkup. I have breast cancer,” her post began.

“It took me a bit of time to process it all which is why I took a break from social media last month as many have commented. Many of you have reached out to me and I am grateful for your caring gestures.”

She revealed that she will have surgery and then begin her treatment plan. “This process is absolutely intense and what I am asking of you is empowerment, not pity,” the Bravolebrity wrote.

The reality TV personality then invoked her signature phrase: guerdyfy. She uses the word to describe the events, weddings and parties she plans through her company Guerdy Design.

“I will guerdyfy this cancer like I guerdyfy everything else in my life,” she wrote.

“I’m lucky that this breast cancer was detected at an early stage — it’s still scary, of course, but I have love and support from those around me and that alone is the fuel I need,” she continued.

And she added a plea to her fans to take their health seriously.

“For those who do not have regular health checks, I urge you to do so. Your life depends on it.’

Abraira shares two sons, Miles, 14, and Liam, 9 with her high school sweetheart and husband of over 20 years, Russell Abraira.

Guerdy’s RHOM castmates were quick to offer their well wishes with Larsa Pippen writing, “Praying for you” and Dr. Nicole Martin said, “You got this girl… We got this.”

The news comes after she helped her RHOM castmate Julia Lemigova while her wife, tennis legend Martina Navratilova, battled throat and breast cancer.

Martina reveled in March during an emotional interview with Piers Morgan that she is cancer free.

She said the dual diagnosis had terrified her, but confirmed that “as far as they know I’m cancer free.”

She had previously beaten breast cancer in 2010, but said she feared she might not see Christmas 2023 after it returned.

“Giving up, giving in, quitting — that’s just not an option for me. You get to work with it. Quitting is just not in my DNA,” said Martina.

Breast cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. There are different types of breast cancer. The type of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast become cancerous.

Breast cancer can start in different parts of the breast. A breast consists of three main parts: lobes, ducts and connective tissue. The lobes are the glands that produce milk. The ducts are tubes that carry milk to the nipple. Connective tissue (consisting of fibrous and fatty tissue) surrounds and holds everything together. Most breast cancers start in the ducts or lobules.

Breast cancer can spread outside the breast through blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. When breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body, it is said to have metastasized.

The most common types of breast cancer are:

There are several other less common types of breast cancer, such as Paget’s disease, medullary, mucosal, and inflammatory breast cancer.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a breast condition that can lead to invasive breast cancer. The cancer cells are only in the lining of the ducts and have not spread to other tissues in the breast.
