Private Ram Island with luxurious home goes up for sale in Tasmania – outshining Sydney

Fancy a quiet life? The entire island including majestic estate with 360-degree views will be put on the market for $7 million

  • The Tasmanian island is up for sale for $7 million
  • Huge 26 acre land including ‘custom’ house
  • Sales are outpacing the competition in Sydney

A massive 26-acre island and its luxury home has hit the market with an asking price of $7 million.

Ram Island, which sits between Orford and Swansea on Tasmania’s east coast, is up for grabs, complete with its ‘360-degree views’ of Swansport’s waters and environs.

The price tag could attract buyers who want the quiet life rather than a trophy home in exclusive Sydney and Melbourne suburbs.

Nick Morgan, of Peterswald for real estate, said residents and visitors can be free from the crowds – while still being in touch with local amenities.

“Access to the Tasmanian mainland is just minutes away via private vessel, including the island,” he said on real estate.com.au.

The island is about 16 miles from essential services and supermarkets in Triabunna, and about an hour’s drive from the commercial area of Sorrel.

Mr Morgan said the one-of-a-kind house has “360-degree views that have to be seen to be believed”.

The “rich wood” house has two kitchen areas, a den, a media room, a family room, and two bathrooms.

The island has a huge bird population that frequents the area, including rosellas, white-bellied sea eagles, wedge-tailed eagles and owls.

Kangaroos and wallabies are also common on the island.

“Take a short walk from the main house to the water’s edge, via the outdoor fire pit, where dolphins and seals are known to be common close to shore,” Mr. Morgan said.

‘The natural, unspoiled landscape is characterized by established trees and greenery, with gently sloping, lush meadows leading down to the water in all directions.’

The attractive lifestyle is more affordable than what some of Sydney’s most expensive suburbs can offer on the market.
