The Mormon mother accused of poisoning her husband with a fentanyl-laced Moscow Mule texted a drug dealer friend asking for the “Michael Jackson stuff” for which she paid $900, according to her arrest warrant.
Kouri Richins, 33, is charged with the murder of her husband Eric last March. Police say she gave him a Moscow Mule with a lethal dose of fentanyl after trying to make herself the sole beneficiary of his life insurance policy.
In the year following her husband’s death, she wrote a children’s mourning book titled Are You With Me?, which she promoted on local television.
Eric, who came from a prominent Mormon family in Kamas, Utah, was so convinced that his wife was trying to kill him that he told his friends, “If anything happens to me, it’s her.”
Kouri Richins (left) was arrested Monday in Utah and is accused of poisoning her husband, Eric Richins (right), with fentanyl at their home in Kamas, a small mountain town near Park City.
Court documents show the charges against Richins and how she paid $1800 for the pills allegedly used to kill her husband
He was even “looking into a divorce,” according to the search warrant that led to Kouri’s arrest on Monday.
Kouri, a mother of three, has not yet responded to the allegations. Her lawyer declined to comment when DailyMail.com contacted her.
According to the search warrant, Kouri texted a friend asking about “the Michael Jackson” thing in an obvious reference to fentanyl.
Jackson was killed in 2009 by a cocktail of prescription drugs such as OxyContin and Demerol.
Kouri claimed in her text message to the drug dealer that the drugs were for a real estate investor who had a back injury.
Initially, she asked for hydrocodone – a prescription pain reliever – which the dealer had left for her in a house she was selling.
Eric’s family told investigators shortly after his death that they suspected Richins had murdered the father of three children. Pictured: Kouri and Eric Richens with their three children

After his death, Richins wrote ‘Are you with me?’ – a picture book she wrote to help children deal with the death of a loved one
She then went on to say that the investor wanted “something stronger.” She asked for “some Michael Jackson stuff” and paid $900 for 30 pills and “specifically for fentanyl.”
Three days later, on Valentine’s Day, she and her husband had dinner at home, after which Eric became “very ill.”
He told friends he thought he had been poisoned, according to the warrant, but he survived.
Kouri went back to the dealer and bought another $900 worth of pills, according to the warrant.
She used them to allegedly kill her husband on March 4.
Shortly after 3 a.m., she called 911 to report that her husband was unresponsive.
