Married At First Sight star Al Perkins has revealed he contracted a yeast infection after drinking a beer from the shoe of a man with warts.
The 26-year-old carpenter, who is known for doing “shoeys” as a party trick, warned of the vicious act after his throat became inflamed and “has never been the same again.”
“I remember one time I did a shoey, someone gave me their shoe and I did it, and I gave them their shoe back and they said, ‘Oh, I have warts on my foot,'” Perkins recalled. Yahoo lifestyle on Tuesday.
“And after that I swear my throat hasn’t been the same.”
Perkins, who starred on Love Island last year after his appearance on MAFS, also opened up about the fleeting nature of reality TV fame.

“I’m on the podium now, it’s been more than 12 months since our season [of MAFS] broadcast and [people] forget my name, they forget everything about me,” he said.
“All they remember is the shoey part. I’m just going out while it lasts,” he added, referring to his habit of doing shoeys at the MAFS dinner parties.
After failing to find a girlfriend on MAFS or Love Island, Perkins began dating 18-year-old TikTok star Hope Kelesis.
They went Instagram official Valentine’s Day, but the couple’s age difference and the fact that Kelesis was still a teenager caused some controversy.

Speaking of his Back to Reality podcast recently, Perkins said Kelesis was his first “real girlfriend” and he was “over the moon.”
He also said the pair met at The Island, a floating club in Sydney Harbour.
“I want to respect her privacy, so I don’t want to talk about her too much…” he told his co-host Taku Chimwaza.
“But we met on The Island and had a great time there, and we’ve only talked to each other since then.

“It wasn’t until last week that we did the official hard launch on the Instagram Story.
“We had been talking for a few months — it wasn’t anything crazy, just a little chat. Then we started hanging out on the beach more, and then yes. Spending January at Coogee Beach and Maroubra.
‘Yes! [She’s] my first real girlfriend. Then we continued with the hard launch [on Instagram] last week – it was crazy. I got so much support, a lot of support.’
