MLB: Akil Baddoo hit where it hurts by a throw from Guardians catcher Mike Zunino

Detroit Tigers star Akil Baddoo hit where it hurts on a throw from Guardians catcher Mike Zunino with INCREDIBLE bad luck after attempting to steal the base in Monday’s game

There’s bad luck, and then there’s what happened to Akil Baddoo in the Detroit Tigers game against the Guardians on Monday night.

In the top of the second inning, Baddoo attempted to steal a base for his team when Cleveland catcher Mike Zunino took the field on Miguel Cabrera and fired the ball toward second base.

Trying to get there in time, Baddoo made a desperate slide to get to the base before the ball, but the ball hit him right where it hurt.

And as if things weren’t painful enough for the 24-year-old, the ball then bounced off his groin and into the glove of Guardians second baseman Andes Gimenez.

Baddoo flinched to the ground in pain after the hit and commentators initially thought he had hurt his ankle or leg until they saw a replay.

And the Guardians themselves didn’t want to overly celebrate getting Baddoo out.

They tweeted the clip saying, “We don’t know what to say. Just look.’

However, Baddoo continued to play for his team, despite the obvious pain he was in.

The Tigers entered the game with a 15-18 record for the season to date, while the Guardians fared little better at 16-18.
