Texas mall shooter Mauricio Garcia left callers on his cell phone a bizarre and garbled voicemail

The suspected neo-Nazi sympathizer who killed eight people and injured seven at a mall in Allen, Texas, left callers on his cell phone a bizarre and garbled voicemail greeting in which he was obsessed with money, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Instead of the usual “leave your name and number,” shop shooter Mauricio Garcia’s personalized message asks his parents for money and insists to his carrier that his cell phone bill has already been paid.

It also includes a dig at the federal government for not providing him with enough financial aid, as well as pranking the late Dallas resident’s friends when they owed him money.

In a call for female callers, the 33-year-old – who until recently lived with his parents – emphasizes: “I have enough money.”

Multiple sources identified Garcia as the Allen Outlet mall shooter on Sunday, revealing that he lived in a motel and worked as a security guard. He recently moved from his parent’s house, which was raided overnight by the FBI.

He also had no serious criminal record and neighbors when questioned said he was quiet but always behaving unusually. The FBI questioned his family for hours – and new details keep emerging about the impetus for his horrific massacre.

Callers to his cell phone are told, “Hello, this is Mauricio. If you are the phone company I sent you the money, or if you are my parents, please send money.

“If you are my financial aid institution, you have not lent me enough money, if you are a friend, you owe me money.

“And if you’re a woman, don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of money.”

What is known, until recently, Garcia lived with his family in a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes in Dallas in the northeast part of the city, moving into a Budget Inn about 15 miles away, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The one-star hotel is a far cry from the single-story, three-bedroom, two-bathroom 1,331-square-foot home where he lived with his family until recently, located on a tree-lined street about 28 miles from the site of Saturday’s massacre.

The house is estimated to be worth $275,000, and no one answered the door when there was a knock.

On Sunday afternoon, however, DailyMail.com saw a middle-aged woman pacing anxiously in the yard while talking on her cell phone. Records show that a Carmen Catalan, 59 years old, also lives at the address.

Neighbors were more receptive to reporters’ questions and painted a picture of a man in his 30s, who still lived with his parents months ago and often wore a guard’s uniform.

The one-star hotel is a far cry from the single-storey, three-bed house where he lived with his family until recently, located on a tree-lined street 45 kilometers from the scene of the shooting. A neighbor described Garcia as “a normal boy” – but with possible mental problems

A neighbor, who declined to be identified, described Garcia as “looking like a normal man” – but with possible mental problems.

He recalled, “We spoke warmly in passing. He turned out to be an ordinary man. He just went to work and came back, nothing special.

“His mother doesn’t speak English, but he does, as you or I would. He just seemed like a really good kid. Always police, friendly, but maybe mentally slow – just in the way he spoke and reacted. It was a clear impression I got.

However, Garcia has not lived in the house for several months, neighbors said.

However, that didn’t stop federal officials from showing up on the doorstep of his family’s home in the northeastern suburb of Piper Hill an hour and a half before the first shots were fired.

“It was around 5 p.m. when three cars from the Dallas Police Department and FBI showed up,” the anonymous neighbor said.

He added, “I’ve never heard anyone banging on doors or kicking in doors or anything like that.

“They engaged in dialogue with the relatives when they left – but the family did not go with them.”

In addition, law enforcement officials offered insight into Garcia’s character — while confiding to CBS that he had worked as a security guard prior to the massacre.

Garcia also apparently had several social media accounts active before the shooting, which appear to have been scrubbed amid the ongoing investigation from state and federal officials.

The profiles, the sources said, showed the Dallas resident’s preference for neo-Nazi and white supremacist content, as officials have yet to release the names of his eight victims or the condition of at least seven others injured.

The killer fired more than 100 times during his rampage, and he had more ammunition and guns in his car – from which he emerged before the carnage.

Garcia, dressed in tactical gear and armed with an AR-15 and a handgun, opened fire outside an H&M store on a busy Saturday afternoon in Allen, Texas.

He was eventually killed by a police officer – who was on the scene for an unrelated phone call, but rushed over when he heard the gunshots outside the H&M.

Garcia was a security guard, but it’s unclear if he worked at Allen Premium Outlets.
