With more power and style, Peugeot’s popular compact SUV from 2008 has been given a facelift. Revealed this week, order books open in the summer for the first deliveries in the fall.
It will be available with a range of electric, petrol and, next year, hybrid powertrains, but significantly no diesels in the UK.
From launch, the new all-electric e-2008 has a larger 54 kWh battery and a new electric motor, with maximum power increased by 18 percent to 156 hp. The range has also been increased to 252 miles, instead of 214. There are also two types of on-board chargers: a single-phase 7.4kW version as standard and an optional three-phase 11kW version.
The e-2008 can be charged from zero to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a 100kW fast charger or in 7.5 hours with a 7.4kW charger.
Coming next year is a new 48V mild hybrid powertrain, comprising a new-generation 136PS 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine mated to a new electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission, electric motor and on-the-go battery .

This provides extra pulling power at low engine speeds and up to 15 percent lower fuel consumption.
In the city, the hybrid system can operate electrically more than half the time, says Peugeot.
Although the diesel option is being discontinued in the UK, Peugeot will continue to offer a choice of advanced 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engines. The PureTech 100 combines a six-speed manual transmission with a new gear shift knob, while the PureTech 130 offers either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
There are three trim levels: Active, Allure and GT, which promise a more assertive SUV design and improved technology. Expect prices from around £25,000 for the petrol version to £36,000 for the purely electric version.
Alloy wheels range from 16-inch to 18-inch and six body colors, including Selenium Gray, Cumulus Gray, Elixir Red, and Vertigo Blue.
All versions feature gloss black door mirrors.
On Active trim versions, the front is decorated with a horizontal pattern in gloss black, while on the Allure and GT versions, the front has a vertical pattern in the same color as the body.
