The 10 most annoying things people do on vacation have been revealed in a study – and being rude to flight attendants on an airplane is the biggest annoyance.
The list was compiled by asking respondents to rank annoying holiday behavior on an ‘annoyance scale’, where rude to cabin crew with an ‘annoyance’ score of 9.1 out of 10.
Closely followed by people leaving rubbish on the beach or around the pool at the holiday destination, with a score of 8.9 out of 10.
Ranking third is being disrespectful to restaurant or hotel staff – it earned an annoyance score of 8.8 out of 10.
The research – conducted by the Swansea-based low-cost cruise holiday retailer Cruise Nation – found that the general public is more annoyed by people being drunk and rowdy on the plane (8.7/10, fourth) than by people being drunk and rowdy at the destination (8/10, seventh).

Fifth place goes to kids kicking your seat on the plane, earning an annoyance score of 8.5 out of 10.
Travelers who want to get to the airport ‘late’ rank sixth (8.1 out of 10).
Slipping into eighth place is occupying hotel loungers with a towel in the morning – it has an annoyance rating of 7.8 out of 10.
Playing loud music in the hotel or holiday accommodation is in ninth place (7.6 out of 10).
And tenth place? This also applies to leaving rubbish on tables in eateries, which scores a 7.5 out of 10.

The survey found that one of the most annoying things people do on holiday is hotel loungers with a towel – it has an annoyance score of 7.8 out of 10
The survey, which surveyed more than 1,000 Britons, also found that holidaymakers aged 18 to 39 appear to be the least irritable on holiday. Their annoyance scores averaged 5.9 out of 10.
Respondents aged 75 and older are most annoyed on average, with an average score of 6.9 out of 10.
Elsewhere, the survey found Britons from the North West and South East to be the ‘most irritated regions’ when on holiday, with respondents from both regions giving an average of 6.5 out of 10.
Overall, holidaymakers are most annoyed on the plane, with an average score of 6.7 out of 10, compared to an average of 6.1 at the airport and six at the destination.
Cruise Nation notes that this “may be because people are more relaxed when they finally reach their vacation destination and switch to relaxation mode.”
