Woman, 38, dies in accident after car collides with cattle truck on busy highway

A woman has died after her car collided with a cattle truck on a busy highway.

The car and truck crashed on Princes Highway near the Victorian coastal town of Port Fairy at 6pm on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old driver of the car died on the spot.

The truck driver escaped unhurt and is currently assisting the police in their investigation.

The truck was not carrying livestock at the time of the accident.

The highway was closed near Dura Lane after the accident to allow detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit to conduct an investigation at the scene.
