Jamie Foxx replaced by Nick Cannon as Beat Shazam host… as Oscar-winner remains hospitalized

Nick Cannon has performed guest duties for Jamie Foxx, who is hospitalized more than three weeks ago following a medical emergency.

The 42-year-old father of 12 has replaced the 55-year-old Oscar winner, according to popular game show Beat Shazam TMZ on Wednesday.

Jamie’s daughter Corinne Foxx, 29, serves as DJ on the program but will also be taking a leave of absence to help with her famous father’s recovery.

Corinne is replaced by Kelly Osbourne who shared a video from his DJ booth on the set of the reality competition show.

This is because Foxx is in a medical facility in Georgia where he undergoes tests afterwards taking in Atlanta where he is filming his upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action.

Sources close to Jamie told TMZ he needs “all the prayers and wishes his fans can muster.”

They added that Jamie, who is the host of the hugely popular Beat Shazam music lyric game show on FOX, will not be in the latest season as filming has already begun.

Last Friday, People spoke to a source who confirmed that Foxx (born Eric Bishop) was “awake and alert” in a “Georgia medical facility.”

“He’s fine, thank God,” the source said. “He’s still in the hospital and the doctors are running tests, but he’s awake and alert. They’re watching him.’

Foxx fell ill last Tuesday in Atlanta, where he is filming his upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.

While his family has shared news of his health problems, they have not provided any details.

However, a source previously told People that Foxx was steadily improving.

Fans were initially warned about the health scare when the actor’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, shared a dire statement on social media earlier this month.

The 29-year-old actress wrote: “We wanted to share that my dad, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday.

“Fortunately, with quick action and good care, he is already on the road to recovery,” she continued.

“We know how loved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family requests privacy during this time,” the statement concluded.

At the time, sources confirmed to TMZ that Foxx’s condition was serious enough to require him to be hospitalized.

Limited details have been shared and it’s unclear what symptoms the comedian suffered.

CNN previously reported that tests were being conducted to determine what led to his health anxiety and that the actor was being observed at the hospital.

“They are running tests and are still trying to figure out exactly what happened,” an insider said.

Despite his improving condition, there is no word yet on when he will be able to leave the hospital or resume filming.

The film has been marketed as the return to acting for his co-star Cameron Diaz, whom he helped coax out of retirement, though she is reportedly planning to retire for good after a series of disasters on the film set.

Glenn Close also appears in the film.

The hospitalization was so severe that the actor’s family came from out of town to be with him.

A source told TMZ, “He’s communicating now, and that’s good news,” which may mean he was unable to communicate at one point due to the medical emergency.

Foxx shares his daughter Corinne with his ex-girlfriend Connie Kline. He also has a 13-year-old daughter Annalize, whom he shares with Kristin Grannis.

His last film shoot in Atlanta seems to have been a surprisingly stressful ordeal for the Baby Driver actor, as well as his peers.

Last month it was reported that Foxx “had an absolute meltdown” while the film was being shot in the UK, leading to the firing of several people.

He reportedly landed an executive producer on the project, along with two directors and even his own driver.

According to The Sun, an employee was fired in connection with an apparent scam to gain access to £33,000 in cash from the actor, allegedly in connection with the sale of a Rolex watch.

There was even more drama when it was revealed that production was halted last month after an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered on the London film set just before two major action sequences were due to be filmed.
