Former Titans star Taylor Lewan reveals he is suing ‘entities involved’ in his 2020 ACL surgery

Ex-Titans star Taylor Lewan is suing over alleged botched ACL surgery in 2020 after previously claiming there is ‘a direct correlation’ between the procedure and his knee problems

Former Tennessee Titans o-lineman Taylor Lewan has revealed he is suing those involved in the repair of his torn right cruciate ligament in October 2020.

Lewan, who was released by Tennessee in February, shared the news on his podcast, Busy with the boys.

“I am in an unfortunate circumstance where, as of October 2020, I have had to file a lawsuit against the people and entities involved in my operation,” said Lewan.

“I wanted to take this opportunity on this podcast to let you all know what’s going on in my life. Fans who have followed my career, who have seen the years before ACL surgery and obviously after ACL surgery, kind of wondered, “What the hell is going on with Lewan?”

“It sucks since 2020. It’s been tough. I would love to sit here and vent… but the reality is I just can’t right now. If I can, I’ll be sure to share more when I can.”

Lewan underwent surgery in the days following the injury he suffered against AFC South rivals, Houston on October 18, 2020.

He spoke about the issue during an October 2022 episode from his podcast with former NFL player Will Compton.

“When I tore my ACL in October 2020, I was on this f****** mission to get back as soon as possible and do everything right,” Lewan continued.

“Last year during the season I had problems. My knee swelled up, I used to feel pain there and I was like, “I don’t know what the deal is.”

“It turns out this year I discovered that there are things going on with my knee that are directly related to what happened when I had my knee done [in 2020].

“So I need to get my knee fixed in order to play football or just live a normal life. There’s not much I can go into for reasons I can’t talk about now.’

Lewan played in just two games last season, tearing the ACL in his right knee again.

The former Pro Bowl left tackle went viral in March following his departure from Tennessee after the team left his belongings in trash bags following his release.

Despite outrage on social media, Lewan quickly made it clear he was not upset, claiming that those who felt this way were “overreacting”.

Lewan has yet to make a decision about his NFL future – whether to retire or look for a 10th season in the league.
