Kyrgios was reportedly able to track and speed limit his car through an app on his mobile phone, allowing police to follow him safely.
Police said they were engaged in a ‘brief pursuit’ of the man, which was abandoned over concerns for the safety of other road users.
The man was caught after police cordoned off a street in Ainslie and he was arrested around 9:05 am.
Ms Kygrios told police interviewers she was afraid the man would come back and ‘blow a hole in the door’.
Police say the man gave police a fake name before they could identify him.
Documents also showed that the man allegedly suffered injuries while trying to escape from police, which required medical attention.
The man faced ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning where he was charged with aggravated theft, failure to stop a motor vehicle for police, driving while suspended, operating a motor vehicle without permission and obstructing/resisting public officials .
He was not granted bail to return to court at a later date.
Kyrgios is very close to his mother and shared his love for her on her birthday last year.
“I know I haven’t always been the easiest to deal with and I know I’ve stressed you out,” the star wrote.
“I want you to know that I don’t know anyone stronger than you.”

In February this year, Kygrios apologized after his assault charge was dismissed after he admitted pushing his ex-girlfriend during a night out.
The world No. 20 was spared a conviction after pleading guilty to assault during an argument with Chiara Passari more than two years ago.
Magistrate Beth Campbell rejected Kyrgios’ request to have his assault charge dropped on mental health grounds, but eventually dismissed his case, saying it did not warrant a conviction.
Ms Campbell told the court she would treat Kyrgios’ case in the same way as any other young man charged with a ‘minor assault’, regardless of his notoriety as someone who ‘happens to hit a tennis ball’. Good’.
