Alongside the post, Victoria wrote, “Happy Birthday @DavidBeckham we love you sooooo much xxxxx The most amazing husband and incredible dad. You are our everything’

Romeo was the first of their brood to post a birthday message to his father. Alongside a sweet photo of them hugging each other on a soccer field, he wrote: “Happy birthday old man loves you so much”

Cruz shared a photo of him and his dad on a beach and wrote, “Congratulations old man, you inspire me every day”

David will address his lifelong OCD battle in an upcoming £16 million Netflix series, revealing that he spends hours every night cleaning his house.

The former footballer, who has previously spoken about his need to keep things in straight lines or pairs, reveals that he stays up for hours to clean up after his family has gone to bed.

As far back as 2006, the star told the Daily Mail, “I have obsessive-compulsive disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line or everything in pairs.”

In new clips, he admits his compulsive behavior disorder means he cleans his used candles every day — and blames wife Victoria, 49, for leaving out the salt.

Filmed by a camera crew in his kitchen, David explains, “I clean [the house] so good, I’m not sure it’s really that appreciated by my wife, in all honesty.

‘The fact that when everyone is in bed, I walk around, make the candles, adjust the lights, make sure everything is tidy.

“I hate coming down in the morning and there’s cups and plates and, you know, bowls. It is tiring to clean every candle.

“I cut the candle wax, I clean the glass, that’s my pet hate, the smoke around the inside of a candle… I know, it’s weird.”

The Beckhams live in a £25 million mansion in Holland Park, London, which they bought in 2013.

It has eight bathrooms, seven bedrooms and a gym and spa.

OCD, or obsessive compulsive disorder, is a mental health condition that can affect anyone at any age. Sufferers typically develop obsessive thoughts and compulsions that significantly affect their daily lives.

This can manifest in many ways, including obsessive cleaning to a certain standard, body dysmorphia, compulsive skin picking and hoarding, says the Mind charity.

In the footage, Victoria tells her husband’s crew, “He’s just so perfect,” before telling David that he’s “appreciated.”

But he jokes to the production team, “Don’t believe that for a second. She sounds so sarcastic when she says it.’

Earlier this month, Victoria and David, the beloved husband and wife, took a walk along a beach in Miami and were filmed arm in arm enjoying their trip. Posting the sweet clip to Instagram, Victoria wrote, “I think I’ll keep it.”

Last July, Netflix confirmed that the docuseries starring the sportsman was in the works following reports that he had signed a £16 million deal with the streaming giant.

In the series, David looks back on his working-class beginnings in East London, and the drive and determination that led him to become one of the most recognizable and scrutinized athletes of all time.

It features a mix of never-before-seen personal archive footage from the past 40 years, as well as interviews with David, his family and friends, and key figures who have been part of his journey both on and off the field.

Oscar winner Fisher Stevens – who also stars as Hugo on hit series Succession – serves as a director and executive producer, along with Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning producer John Battsek.

David is producing the project with his TV company Studio 99, which launched in 2019, in partnership with Ventureland.

What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?

Obsessive-compulsive disorder, commonly known as OCD, is a common mental health condition that causes people to become obsessed with thoughts and develop behaviors that are difficult for them to control.

It can affect anyone at any age, but normally develops during young adulthood.

It can cause people to repeatedly have unwanted or unpleasant thoughts.

People can also develop compulsive behaviors—either a physical act or something mental—that they do over and over again to try and relieve the obsessive thoughts.

The condition can be controlled and treatment usually includes psychological therapy or medication.

It’s not known why OCD occurs, but risk factors include a family history of the condition, certain differences in brain chemicals, or major life events such as childbirth or death.

People who are neat, methodical, or anxious by nature are also more likely to develop it.

The ex-Manchester United player wrote in an Instagram post: ‘I am delighted to confirm that I am collaborating with @Netflix on a documentary series about my life and career.

“The series features unseen archives, untold stories and interviews with the people who have been part of my journey.

The series is directed and produced by Academy Award winners @fisherstevens and John Battsek. Check out this space… @studio99.”

He was reportedly inspired by the Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, which began streaming on the platform in 2020.

Beckham has spoken openly about his battle with OCD for two decades.

In 2006, he told the Daily Mail how he would count clothes and arrange magazines in straight lines and symmetrical patterns. And he added that one of the reasons he keeps getting new tattoos is because he’s addicted to the pain of the needle.

Beckham said, “I have obsessive-compulsive disorder where I have to have everything in a straight line or everything in pairs.”

He continued, “I put my Pepsi cans in the fridge and if there’s one too many I put it in another cabinet somewhere.

‘I have that problem. I’m going to a hotel room. Before I can relax I have to move all the folders and all the books and put them in a drawer. Everything has to be perfect.’

He added that he “would like” to get rid of OCD, but “can’t stop” his compulsive behavior.

Victoria has also previously commented on her husband’s behavior. She said, “He’s got that obsessive-compulsive thing where everything has to go with it. When you open our refrigerator, it’s all coordinated on both sides.

‘We have three refrigerators: food in one, salad in another and drinks in the third. With the drinks, everything is symmetrical. If there are three cans, he throws one away, because it must be an even number.’

The revelations come just a week after Beckham headed to Italy to attend Milan Design Week.

The former footballer, who attended the event with Maserati, shared a photo of himself in a navy blue blazer and white pants with a light blue shirt.

But fans will get a glimpse of life behind the chic looks thanks to his new partnership with the streaming giant, which will see him take a deep dive into his mental health struggles.

An insider previously told The Sun: ‘It’s something David is excited about and wanted to do for a while. The film will feature new content and archive footage.

“It’s about David’s life after football, especially the formation of his new team in Miami, but it will also have some personal content.

‘The interest in his life and family is great. Everyone has high expectations of that.’
