New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas elaborated on how he felt in the wake of the highly anticipated Aaron Rodgers trade and NFL Draft.
Rodgers was recently traded to the New York Jets along with the Packers’ number 15 pick and a fifth-rounder in Thursday’s NFL Draft.
“I’m exhausted from the past few months, but couldn’t be more excited,” Douglas shared SNY.
“It’s been a rollercoaster these past few weeks and finally the deal is done for Aaron to get him into the building. Let him meet teammates, be with them for a while.
“And then this design has been it, it’s been excellent… Excited to have everyone on the grass. Start phase two next week and the coaches are excited. There’s a really good energy here.’

They also made seven selections in the draft, most notably edge rusher Will McDonald IV
In return, Green Bay received the Jets’ 13th overall draft pick, a second-round pick that becomes No. 42 overall, a sixth-round pick, and a conditional second-round pick for 2024, which will be a first when Rodgers plays. 65 percent of the photos this season.
The move completed what seemed like a summer-long fling after Rodgers confirmed his desire to play for Gang Green during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show more than a month ago.
Since then there had been numerous updates, a rumored list of players Rodgers had allegedly wanted to give the team, the existence of which he denied, and lots and lots of player recruiting on the Jets roster.
After news of the transaction finally broke, much of the New York locker room took to social media to celebrate.
In addition to closing the mega deal the team has been yearning for all summer, Douglas also made his last attempt to inject some talent into the NFL Draft roster.
It started with the surprise selection of edge rusher Will McDonald IV from Iowa State with their first round pick.
New York rounded out the remainder of the draft by selecting Wisconsin’s Joe Tippmann in the second, Pittsburgh’s Carter Warren offensive tackle in the fourth, Pittsburgh running back Israel Abanikanda in the fifth round, Western Michigan linebacker Zaire Barnes and LSU cornerback Jarrick Benard-Converse in the sixth and Old Dominion put a tight end to Zack Kuntz in the seventh.
