On a busy Saturday night in New York, two people were shot in Manhattan after an argument in the street between three men suddenly turned into gun violence.

The attack occurred around 5:45 p.m. on West 46th Street, close to 9th Avenue in the city’s Hell’s Kitchen area, after an argument suddenly escalated into gunfire, forcing tourists to flee for their lives.

Surveillance footage from outside a smoke shop shows passersby ducking for cover as shots rang out.

The gunman was seen talking to one of the victims before walking away, only to return and fire the shots.

The footage shows two men, one wearing a black coat and the other a blue coat, arguing on the sidewalk as people walk by when one of the men turns around.

Suddenly you hear the man in the blue jacket say: ‘What? What?… Stop playing, mate!’ while the man he was arguing with walked away.

Less than 10 seconds later, the man in black can be heard saying, “What’s up, n****,” before firing, holding a gun at close range.

Video footage from the store captured flashes emanating from the gun’s barrel as the bullets flew.

Terrified bystanders in the street can be seen firing from the danger zone.

A man dragging a suitcase falls to the floor and runs into a restaurant doorway to avoid the gunfire.

Another woman can also be seen diving to the ground as she tries to make sense of what is going on around her.

Others in the background can be seen turning and running in fear with a woman falling into the road.

The attacker fled after the attack.

Incredibly, only two people were shot in the fight. Shaquille Bailey, 28, was taken by friends to Mount Sinai West Hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds to his shoulder and hip, police said.

A second victim was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by friends.

Investigators are now searching through the surveillance footage for clues about the identity of the perpetrator.

Ayushma Shrestha, who works at a nearby juice shop, described the incident as “terrifying” and said she locked herself in to avoid the gunmen.

“It was like two shots. I saw a man limping. I think he was shot in the thigh,” Shrestha, 25, told the New York Post.

“I locked the door and we ran to the back,” she explained. “That was very scary. I made sure to lock the door so they couldn’t come in,’ Shrestha added.
