Michael Buble shades Tony Danza after viral TikTok clip where actor was ‘rude’ to interviewer

Canadian singer Michael Bublé has joined the growing backlash surrounding Tony Danza’s “condescending” response to a reporter’s questions at a recent event.

The controversial moment took place Wednesday night while the first Who is the boss? star and producer friend Jamie deRoy attended the official opening of the musical New York, New York on Broadway.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Danza and deRoy are seen talking to reporter Rye Myers on the red carpet, who enthusiastically asks the duo, “How are you guys tonight?”

“Well, we’re excited,” DeRoy responds, and Myers fires back, “Yeah, it’s so great to be here in New York, New York.”

At this point, Danza jumped into the conversation and told Myers to “relax a little bit, you’re more excited than we are.” Take it easy.’

Danza, 72, was visibly annoyed when he was asked some light-hearted questions during a red carpet interview

When Myers agreed that the moment was “exciting,” the Taxi actor replied, “I know, I know, I know.” OK.’

Danza’s annoyance apparently reached its peak when Myers asked him to reveal what his “favorite New York City staple food is?” is it pizza or a hot dog?

Visibly disgusted, the 72-year-old Brooklyn, New York resident reached out and briefly touched the reporter’s face and replied, “You know what to do, buddy, you need to come up with better questions,” and then walked away with deRoy while adding, “Come on, let’s go.” I have to go.’

After the video went viral and the growing support for Myers, Bublé weighed in by heading to the comments section of his post.

“I love you Ry. I’ll eat a pizza with you,” the singer said.

The Sway crooner then shadowed Danza, adding, “Let’s not invite Tony…”

Overjoyed with the comment, Myers wrote back, “Omg Michael, thanks for the kind comment. Means so much! I would like to eat pizza with you! It would be fun!’

TikTok users defended Myers in the comments, calling him a “class act” for remaining “professional” and keeping his toothy smile throughout the awkward interview.

So far, Danza has not publicly addressed the incident and his representatives have not immediately responded Page six request for comment on the video or Bublé’s comments, the publication said.

Myers remained classy throughout the episode, writing in the caption to his post, “Well, you can’t please everyone,” then continued, “If you didn’t want to be interviewed, you could have said no!”

The reporter then clarified, “I asked the same questions (and a few others!) to heavy hitters like #JoelGray #linmanuelmiranda and others, and only #TonyDanza answered like this….”

He concluded: ‘To say I was blown away, shocked and embarrassed is an understatement… But my professionalism showed through!’

In a statement to Page Six, Myers confessed that he was troubled by the incident, in part because he “grew up watching and respecting” Danza’s career as an actor.

He went on to say that he looks forward to “sharing my light as Your Broadway & Entertainment Bff!” and that he hopes that ‘Mr. Danza will remember to be kinder next time.’

Bublé has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and won numerous awards, including five Grammy Awards and 15 Juno Awards presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
