Top Republican claims Hunter Biden’s lawyers intimidate would-be whistleblowers

The top Republican investigating Hunter Biden’s business affairs has alleged that lawyers for the president’s son are intimidating would-be witnesses and whistleblowers.

James Comer, who heads Congress’s main investigative body, made the explosive claims in an interview with Just the News late Thursday.

The 50-year-old congressman, who represents Kentucky, said Biden’s legal team is trying to obstruct his influence investigation.

“We have witnesses who are terrified to come forward. They fear for their lives,” he said. “Hunter Biden’s legal team—they’re testing the boundaries.”

Hunter Biden, seen here with the president last August, has long faced allegations that he exploited his family ties to the benefit of his business interests

Comer also claimed — without citing any evidence — that Democratic officials in Congress funded “dark money groups” to thwart the investigation.

He said Democrat-leaning lawyers also pressured banks to cooperate with the congressional investigation, but gave no examples.

His remarks came after a special agent for the IRS, the nation’s tax agency, asked Congress for whistleblower protection.

The anonymous source said in a letter to the committee through his attorney that the investigation is being mishandled because of Hunter Biden’s family ties.

On Thursday, IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel promised that the US IRS employee would be protected.

“I can say without hesitation that there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or calling a whistleblower hotline,” the IRS Commissioner replied.

The White House has repeatedly denied any interference in the matter.

Hunter Biden’s taxes and work abroad have been under federal investigation by a federal grand jury in Delaware since at least 2018.

House Republicans are also investigating Hunter Biden and his companies, claiming he raised millions from foreign governments for his now-defunct investment firm.

So far, no charges have been brought against the 53-year-old, whose business interests came back into the spotlight after leaked emails from his laptop came online.

His board membership of a Ukrainian energy company and his attempts to make deals in China have also led to claims of influence.

Hunter Biden was spotted this past weekend in a California vineyard belonging to very wealthy Democratic donor Joe Kiani, a tech mogul.

He was seen with his wife Melissa Cohen and their three-year-old son Beau, plus their taxpayer-funded Secret Service.

It came when an Arkansas judge ruled that he had to appear in court in a paternity suit brought by a former fling, Lunden Roberts.

Hunter will also have to submit to a statement in June in which Roberts’ lawyers are likely to grill him about his various businesses and shady overseas ventures.

They’ll also want to know that Hunter’s finances have plummeted as he sells paintings for up to $500,000 each under his new guise as an abstract artist.

Roberts, a former stripper, reportedly won a $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019.

She also forced the ex-Navy Reservist to take a DNA test to prove he was the father of their daughter, Navy Joan, during their 2017 affair.

Roberts’ lawyers say Hunter Biden, who was kicked out of the military in 2014 for using cocaine, has not provided a single item or word of discovery in their ongoing child support lawsuit.

Independence County Judge Holly Meyer Monday ordered Biden to go to court on May 1 because his absence “interferes with the process of litigation.”
