The Eagles and Cardinals reached a settlement Thursday in a sabotage investigation that saw former Philadelphia defensive coach Jonathan Gannon hired as Arizona head coach.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the teams agreed that the Eagles would trade pick No. 94 in this draft and a 2024 5th round pick to the Cardinals for pick No. 66 in this draft.

“The Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to resolve a matter related to a case of unauthorized contact by Arizona during their search for head coaching last January,” a joint statement said.

The Cardinals themselves reported to the National Football League that general manager Monti Ossenfort had a phone conversation with then-Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon in the days following the NFC Championship Game, a period when contact is not allowed under the Anti- Tamper Policy.

“To resolve the issue between the two clubs, the Cardinals and Eagles have agreed to swap the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft and the Cardinals will receive the fifth round from Philadelphia in 2024.”

It’s the latest in a string of bad news for the Cardinals’ management. Former Cardinals front office manager Terry McDonough recently filed an arbitration claim against the team accusing owner Michael Bidwill of cheating in a 2018 phone fraud.

The Cardinals also had one of the more active first rounds of the NFL draft tonight, having initially traded from No. 3 overall to No. 12 following a deal with the Houston Texans.

They followed this up just three picks later by trading with the Detroit Lions to move into the No. 6 spot.

After the game of musical draft picks, Arizona took Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr.

Johnson Jr. makes sense for the Cardinals, as franchise quarterback Kyler Murray will be coming off a torn ACL to start the season.
