Royal photographer reveals the surprising change in Prince Harry since marrying Meghan Markle

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards says Prince Harry was once ‘someone special’ but that changed after marrying Meghan Markle: ‘He met her and made a U-turn’

A British photographer known for taking pictures of the royal family claims Prince Harry’s personality has changed after his marriage to Meghan Markle.

Arthur Edwards, 82, discussed on Australia’s The Project how Meghan wasn’t present at King Charles’ upcoming coronation and how Harry wasn’t as outgoing as he once was.

“Harry was someone special and it was a pleasure to work with him. Then suddenly he met Meghan and turned around,” he told host Sarah Harris.

“He used to take the press to the pub at the end of a trip and we’d all have a drink with him and a laugh with him and he’d pay the bill…

“But when I read his book Spare now, the media are the evil monsters,” he added.

“I wonder where that change came from and it couldn’t have happened until after he married Meghan.”

Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018 and they are the proud parents of son Archie, three, and daughter Lilibet, one.

His memoir Spare has become one of the fastest selling books of all time internationally, but it seems Australian readers aren’t as interested in the royal narrator as it was knocked off the top of the charts by a children’s book.

The explosive biography of The Duke of Sussex sold 64,148 copies in its first week of release in January, while Scott ‘The Barefoot Investor’ Pape’s Barefoot Kids sold almost double that number at 128,641 copies, according to figures from Nielsen Bookscan .

“Who would have thought that decent financial advice would outperform frozen todgers?” a publishing source told The Daily Telegraphreferring to one of the more infamous stories from Harry’s book.

Spare was the best-selling book in Australia for the week ending January 14 and has been the best-selling memoir in Australia since shooting began in 2002.

In the UK, Spare has become the fastest selling non-fiction book since registration began in 1998.

The autobiography of the Duke of Sussex has sold 750,000 copies in all formats – print, audio and e-book – in the UK since its publication on 10 January.

This makes it the best-selling memoir ever for its first week of publication, according to publisher Transworld, the UK arm of Penguin Random House.

It comes after a fierce publicity campaign, with Harry taking part in several TV interviews to promote his book.
