The Masked Singer: Lou Diamond Phillips shocks as he reveals identity after performing as Mantis

Lou Diamond Phillips shocked the entire panel when he revealed his identity on Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer on Fox.

The 61-year-old actor appeared as Mantis on the season nine episode of Battle Of The Saved that also featured Medusa and Gargoyle.

Medusa was crowned the winner after a battle royale sing-off against Gargoyle, who revealed himself as Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen, 30.

Mantis, Gargoyle and Medusa once again took the stage after being previously saved by this season’s new Ding Dong Keep It On Bell option that the panelists were allowed to use three times.

The show started with Medusa performing Mercy from Shawn Mendes, followed by Gargoyle singing the Usher song DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love and Mantis singing You Really Got Me from The Kinks.

Robin Thicke, 46, threw his arms up in disbelief and turned away when host Nick Cannon, 42, revealed that Lou was under the Mantis mask.

‘No! No! No! No! No!’ cried panelist Jenny McCarthy, 50, pounding the table.

“Oh my God!” said Robin.

“The Diamond!” exclaimed panelist Nicole Scherzinger, 44.

Nick commented that he had never seen Robin react so violently.

“Honestly, I like Lou Diamond Phillips,” Robin explained.

Robin revealed that as a boy Phillips starred in two of his favorite movies, La Bamba and Young Guns.

“So, I mean, not expecting to see you, and then all those feelings of growing up looking at you and admiring you like that, what an honor to have you here,” Robin said.

“Thanks for saving me,” said Lou, who stayed on the show after Robin unilaterally hit the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell after Mantis sang songs that were sentimental to him.

Jenny shared that she and husband Donnie Wahlberg, 53, talked last week about Lou being on Blue Bloods.

“You’ve really been on our panel,” Nick said.

“Well, because I know them all!” said Lou.

Nick then asked Lou why he decided to join The Masked Singer.

“I have to give a huge shout out to my daughter Indigo,” said Lou, who has four children, including model Gracie Phillips, 25.

He added that Indigo, 15, watches the show religiously with her boyfriend ‘Fluffy’ and that was his ‘main reason’.

“But you know, you’ve just had great, surprising, ridiculous guests, you know? I mean, Grammy winners and nominees to surprising people like me that you don’t necessarily expect. So it’s been a pleasure. It’s been a pleasure to be on this show,” said Lou.

Lou performed one last time and treated the audience to a version of La Bamba. He then joined the VIP section to watch the battle royale against Gargoyle and Medusa.

During the battle royale, Gargoyle followed by Medusa sang their own renditions of Centuries from Fall Out Boy. Medusa was declared the winner and Gargoyle was forced to unmask.

Chargers star Keenan also stumped the panel with Robin coming close with his pick of Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa, 27.

Keenan revealed that he was always in a choir during his childhood.
