D&D proposes rules changes for fighters, wizards, and more

Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast released new playtest materials for One D&D, the next iteration of the popular role-playing game, on Wednesday. The massive 50-page pack includes new rules for Barbarians, Brawlers, Wizards, Warlocks, and Wizards – all core character classes featured in 5th Edition Player’s Handbookfirst published in 2014. The pack is free to download for those with a D&D Beyond account.

The Wizards Unearthed Arcana playtest packs are a holdover from the vigorous playtesting that preceded the launch of the 5th edition of D&D. They are regularly used to let fans try out new classes, backgrounds and rules before providing feedback directly to the developers. A recent release even brought changes to the druid class to better align it with what was shown in it Dungeons & Dragons: honor among thieves. Previous Unearthed Arcana has also teased major releases, including the rebooted Spelljammer setting and the rebooted Planescape setting, due for release later this year.

Today’s playtest was released along with a nearly hour-long video that takes a closer look at their intent. Feedback opens May 17.
