Heading into the game, Mason said he wanted to secure the role permanently.
“Honestly, I feel ready. I know I’m ready,” Mason said at his pre-game press conference.
“If that situation arises, it means that we have done a good job. That’s fast forward six weeks. My immediate focus is Thursday.’
However, Mason revealed that the most important thing was to focus on the job and beat the Red Devils on Thursday.
The interim manager: ‘The most important thing is to get energy and positivity back in the group and also among the fans.
“We have to be realistic three training sessions for two games, difficult to change a lot, but I hope before the end of the season people will see my mark on the group.”

As for United, Ten Hag has called for a dominant performance on his part.
“It wasn’t very often that we had to bounce back, that happens with all the big teams, Real Madrid, doesn’t it?” Ten Hag said this at his press conference prior to the game.
“Obviously they’ve suffered a really bad defeat, of course, they’re angry, that could be fuel for a bounce. It’s about us, an opponent can never be hungrier than us.
“That’s how we have to prepare the game and make sure we’re in front, dominant and dictating the game.”

Prediction
Tottenham entered the game after winning just two of their last five games in the competition.
The side has been on a miserable run of form lately but will look to bounce back after Mason’s appointment. Kane is currently the club’s top goalscorer this season, and if they can get him to shoot against United, the side could take all three points.
As for United, Ten Hag’s men could emerge above Newcastle in a win. The team won three of its last five league matches en route to the game.
If Rashford fires from the start it could be a tough night in the office for North London.
Prediction – 2-0 Manchester United
