AFL: Essendon star Kyle Langford hits Collingwood fan with instant karma on Anzac Day

Footy’s hottest rivalry resumed on Anzac Day and Essendon star Kyle Langford was more than eager to take cold revenge after a hilarious interaction with a Collingwood fan.

Some 90,000 fans flocked to the MCG on Tuesday to watch Brad Scott’s high-flying bombers take on Craig McRae’s rampant Magpies, with the two rivals in the AFL’s top four for the bounce.

And during a first half that swung back and forth, a Pies fan tried to give his side a marginal advantage by getting into the head of Essendon striker Langford as he prepared for a shot on goal.

The punter gestured to return the ball to Langford and waited for the opportune moment – just as the attacker was close enough to grab the ball and throw it to the turf.

But that did little to deter the 26-year-old, who popped a right-footed shot through the posts – and he didn’t let the attempted provocation go unpunished, immediately turning to the fan in the stands and pointing at him.

But Langford scored and the footy fan was less happy in the stands

But the stunned Pies supporter went home happy after a fourth-quarter surge saw Collingwood take a 13-point victory from the Bombers and stun Scott’s side.

Trailing by 28 points in three-quarter time, the Magpies stormed home 7.2 to 0.3 in the final term to steal a classic, 13.12 (90) to 11.11 (77).

The crowd of 95,179 surpassed the previous record of 94,825 set during the first Anzac Day blockbuster between Collingwood and Essendon in 1995.

Daicos finished with 40 possessions, but it was his two crucial goals in the last quarter that really earned him his first Anzac medal.

The 20-year-old, in his sophomore season, has been prolific in almost every game he has played this year to be comfortably favorite for the Brownlow medal.
