The investigations that will shroud Biden’s run for a second term
President Biden announced Tuesday that he is running for a second term in office as his family is embroiled in politically damaging investigations.
The scandal-clad Hunter Biden continues to drag the family name down with a Justice Department investigation and now the Oversight Committee says Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) are ensnaring as many as 12 Biden family members in Hunter’s influence peddling.
However, Biden himself has not been charged with a crime — unlike Republican nominee Donald Trump, who is himself mired in legal woes.
Here are the ongoing investigations into Biden and his family that the president may have to answer for if he goes down the campaign trail:
Hunter Biden’s legal team will meet with US Attorney David Weiss this week to discuss the investigation into the president’s son
Oversight committee chair James Comer says 12 members of the Biden family may be involved in Hunter’s influence
While most of the names have not yet been revealed, Comer previously said suspicious activity reports (SARs) reviewed by Republicans on the panel have shown that President Biden’s brother, Jim Biden, and his son Beau’s widow, Hallie Biden, benefited from foreign business deals.
Regulators have been searching SARs following a subpoena from the Treasury Department to investigate the business dealings of the president and his family members — primarily his son Hunter Biden.
“There are six specific decisions that Joe Biden has made as vice president or president that are of great concern to us,” Comer told Fox News.
He said these decisions and moves are likely related to payments to LLCs from legitimate companies as a way to launder money to Biden’s relatives.
“I found legitimate companies that paid the LLCs, who then turned around and laundered the money back to the Bidens,” Comer explained. “But I found no legitimate business dealings on Biden’s side.”
It appears that if there was no legitimate business dealing in any of these LLCs, it was influence. And if you want to get technical, and if you want to get to a legal term, it’s called being a foreign agent. They were not registered as a foreign agent.’
‘This is bad. I think there are more laws that have been broken than just tax evasion. And there are many more Bidens involved than just the president’s son and his brother.”

DOJ examine classified documents found in Biden’s think tank office and personal residence
Special Counsel Robert Hur has been investigating for the Justice Department the classified documents found to be in Biden’s custody after Jack Smith was appointed to handle the case of Donald Trump’s classified documents.
Federal law requires that all presidential records — especially those with secret markings — be turned over to the National Archives at the end of a presidential administration.
Both Trump and Biden face federal investigations for having classified documents in their private homes.
Pence also found some classified documents at his Indiana home in February. He immediately notified authorities and had federal agents search his home.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers meet with the Justice Department
Hunter Biden’s legal team is meeting with U.S. Attorney David Weiss this week to discuss the investigation into the president’s son.
Hunter Biden’s legal team had reached out to Justice Department officials, CNN reported, asking for an update on the matter. That led to the planning of next week’s meeting.
Weiss, the U.S. attorney in Delaware appointed by former President Donald Trump, is overseeing the Hunter Biden investigation.
It comes as federal prosecutors are weighing four charges against the presidential son, three related to tax crimes and one felony related to the purchase of a gun.
The possible charges include two counts of failure to file taxes, a single misdemeanor count of tax evasion related to a business expense for a year of taxation, and the weapons charge, also a potential felony, NBC News reported, citing sources.
Purchasing a .38 caliber handgun in 2018, Hunter wrote on the Firearm Transaction Record that he did not use illegal drugs, but admitted in his memoirs that he was a crack addict at the time. Intentionally providing misleading information when purchasing a gun is a crime.
In addition, two senior law enforcement sources told the network there is “growing frustration” within the FBI as most of the investigative work was completed last year, while the IRS completed its tax investigation more than a year ago.
There is no indication when the charges may come. Hunter Biden has denied any allegations.
Special counsel Robert Hur has been investigating the secret documents that turned out to be in Biden’s care
On November 2, Biden’s personal attorney discovered about 10 documents with secret markings on November 2 at the Penn Biden Center, his private think tank run by the University of Pennsylvania.
The material dates back to the Obama administration. The National Archives and Justice have been informed of the find.
But the crisis only came to public attention in January after CBS News reported their existence, drawing criticism for the Biden administration, which has promised transparency.
Days later, more classified documents were discovered at Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware. Additional searches found more secret documents – about two dozen in all.
