Netflix has announced that one of its most popular sitcoms will end after its eighth and final series, while its spin-off show has also been axed.
The streaming platform confirmed that Big Mouth will end in 2024 after seven years, while its spin-off Human Resources will also end after its second series.
The seventh series of Big Mouth is slated to release on Netflix later this year and will be followed by another eighth season in 2024 before it ends for good.
Meanwhile, the second series of Human Resources hits screens later this month, with the creators confirming it will be the show’s final episode.
The final chapter of Big Mouth will serve as a farewell for both animated shows as the characters from both will flow into new collaborative episodes, according to deadline.

Big Mouth is inspired by the childhood of best friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg and follows a group of friends navigating puberty and adolescence.
Speaking of the news, producer Nick told the publication, “If you had told teen Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg that it would take eight years to finish high school, they would have said ‘yeah that sounds about right, this seems it will never end’.’
Billy Wee, the director of adult animation at Netflix, added, “Big Mouth is a towering achievement in animated comedy that will make Netflix history for its longevity.
“We’re thrilled to have two more hilarious seasons to share with fans before this brilliant coming-of-age story comes to an end.”
Together, Big Mouth and Human Resources have watched more than 1 billion hours on Netflix to date.
Big Mouth is reportedly the longest-running scripted original series in Netflix history outside of Kids and Family programming, surpassing Grace and Frankie.

Despite the show coming to an end, creators Nick and Andrew’s company, Brutus Pink, has signed a big deal with Netflix to keep making animated content.
In July, it was reported that Brutus Pink signed a new three-year deal with Netflix that would see them produce new animated projects for the platform until 2026.
Mark Levin, who helps run the company, shared Variety at the time: ‘Brutus Pink is thrilled to continue with Netflix, which has been our creative home for seven years.
“We hope this means we get to keep the ‘Con Air’ DVD that’s been sitting on Nick’s coffee table since 2006 in a red envelope.”
