Heartstopper fans were sent into a panic on Monday when Netflix finally announced a season two start date after weeks of cryptic hints.
The first season of the heartwarming LGBTQ+ coming-of-age show was released in April 2022 to critical acclaim, bringing stars Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie) into the spotlight.
Netflix has now announced that season two, based on author Alice Oseman’s comic book series, will premiere on August 3.
Netflix said of the new episodes, “Nick and Charlie are navigating their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges; Tao and Elle explore whether they could ever be more than just friends.
“Besides, there are exams, a school trip to Paris, and a ball!”

In the first season, Charlie fell in love with his popular classmate Nick at Truham Grammar School for boys.
While they are just friends at first, their chemistry is undeniable and they grow closer as Nick tries to figure things out.
In a trailer for the new season, Kit and Joe are asked, “What do you think is new in season two and what can fans expect?”
Joe grins as he says, “I don’t know, what’s new in season two,” before the clip launches into a montage full of sneak previews.
Fans were elated at the news, with one saying, “My faith in humanity has been restored.”
Another said: ‘YASSSS FINALLY!!! I HAVE WAITED ALL DAY FOR THIS NEWS!’
But some were disappointed that the new season wasn’t coming sooner and said, ‘August????? You mean I have to wait another 3 months, I think you misspelled May there. I’m really so excited for season 2’
A second fan thought the same thing and added, “AM SO HAPPY FOR A REAL DATE BUT AUGUST? I’m super happy.”
It comes after weeks of cryptic hints by the streaming giant.
Netflix tweeted, “One year ago today we said “hello” to Heartstopper S1. What’s next? If you’re lucky, you might find out this week…”
Meanwhile, author Alice Oseman tweeted “SOON,” alongside a leaf emoji. Similar doodles are used in the show to show the chemistry between the characters.
