Virgin flight attendant Brodie Capron reveals the one travel hack to ignore hot water on flights
A flight attendant has dismissed rumors that airplane water is “unsafe to drink” in an epic video that answers the top questions she asked about air travel.
Virgin Australia flight attendant Brodie Capron has been in the business for over two years now and revealed that passengers regularly ask her various questions about air travel.
Brodie claimed that passengers always wonder if airplane water is safe to drink and why window shades need to be raised for takeoff and landing.
She was happy to reveal all the secrets of her work to satisfy the public’s curiosity.
The VA flight attendant shared a video in which she answered popular questions, including where toilet waste really goes, whether airplane doors can be opened mid-flight and why you feel more drunk while in the air.

Is airplane water safe to drink?
The safety of airplane water is a hotly debated topic – with many warnings against consuming anything that doesn’t come from a sealed bottle.
But Brodie, who works at Virgin Airlines, revealed that the water is perfectly safe to drink – at least on her flights.
“It’s clean and filtered,” she said in a video.
Why must roller blinds be up for takeoff and landing?
Takeoff and landing are the riskiest phases of any flight – and with the blinds down your eyes will get used to the natural light outside in an emergency.
People will be able to react more quickly to dangerous situations when their eyesight is at its strongest – which is also why lights are dimmed at those times.
Brodie also revealed another reason why it’s important to have roller blinds on.
“It’s so that everyone can see the engines and alert the cabin crew if something is wrong,” she said.
What happens to waste from toilets?
Many often wonder if garbage just comes out of the plane when it flies over the ocean – but this is not so.
“It doesn’t just go up in the air,” said the flight attendant. “Body waste goes into a waste water tank that is emptied on landing.”
Why do I have to put on my oxygen mask before I can help others?
Parents often rush to put on their children’s masks before worrying about themselves.
But the Virgin Airlines flight attendant warned against such a practice as it could have fatal consequences and deter you from helping someone else in need.
“You should put your mask on before helping others because you won’t be very helpful if you don’t carry your own oxygen,” she said.
Can doors be opened mid-flight?
“The doors can’t be opened in flight unless you have superhuman strength,” Brodie said.
Due to the laws of physics, to open a passenger door (usually six feet long and four feet wide) at 35,000 feet, a person would have to overcome about 24,000 pounds of pressure.

Why do hand luggage have a specific weight limit?
The overhead cabinets in which carry-on bags are stored have a specific weight limit to prevent the cabin from tearing.
Space in an airplane is also limited, which is why airlines have requirements for the dimensions of all hand luggage.
Do you get drunk faster on planes?
Many passengers enjoy a glass or two of red wine on airplanes, especially if they have a long flight to catch.
But people often notice that their alcohol tolerance seems to drop in the air — and they’ve never understood how that’s possible.
“Yes, airplanes get you drunk faster!” said Brodie, in response to the age-old question. ‘That’s because the low oxygen percentage in the air increases the effects of alcohol.’

Thousands thanked Brodie for sharing her knowledge.
“This is actually so interesting!” said a woman.
“She’s certainly not wrong about the alcohol — I’ve got a glass of wine and can’t get off the plane.”
‘I didn’t know about the roller blinds yet, thanks for sharing!’
“I’m surprised some people think that when you go to the toilet it just comes out of the blue – maybe this answers their questions.”
