Davina McCall is ‘sad’ that people in the public eye can’t be forgiven after making mistakes

Davina McCall says she is “saddened” that people in the public eye can no longer be forgiven for “making a mistake.”

The presenter, 55, said celebrities are “terrified” of saying the wrong thing and of being “cancelled” because “forgiveness is off the agenda”.

She said she’s changed so much since her “addictive past” as a teenager and it’s sad that people can’t “change their minds” or make mistakes these days.

Speaking to Rylan Clark on his Rylan’s Ry-Union podcast, she said: “This is the new thing that celebrities or actors or anyone in the public eye fear the most… you say something and you get cancelled.

“I think it’s about the lack of forgiveness that someone is allowed to have for making a mistake.

“One of the things I find really weird is dragging someone over the coals for a tweet they made in 2011. I’ve changed so much in 12 years.

“You have to be able to change your mind. Sometimes people were racist or homophobic 10 or 12 years ago and they may have met someone along the way who made them change the light.”

She added: “We should not stop or say otherwise the voices that annoy or annoy us by shaming them. It seems that forgiveness is no longer on the agenda. It seems very sad.’

Davina also explained how she “wouldn’t change” her past as she has no regrets about her past drug use as it “made her who she is today.”

She said, “It was crazy in France. I was 14, got to go away for the weekend with a bunch of 20-year-olds, and took a lot of drugs. I thought I was “it”, I was so cool and knew what was going on.

‘I didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t have the emotional maturity to deal with what was happening to me.”

“But I wouldn’t change my past. I’m sorry I had to experience it, but I learned a lot from it. And it made me who I am today. And I’m a completely different person than that girl from back then.’

It comes after Davina looked like a sporty superwoman in every inch when she took part in the Lady Garden Family Challenge in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.

The presenter ran alongside her daughter Holly, 21, who she described as a ‘whippet’ as she ran the Hyde Park track, and the pair ended up together.

Davina showed off her slim body in an all black ensemble, which she paired with bright white sneakers.

She showed off her tight midriff as she peeled off her long-sleeved top to reveal a fitted camisole, showing off her infamous washboard abs.

Before the race, Davina was seen laughing and joking with friends, including beauty entrepreneur Trinny Woodhall, who joked that Davina looked like a policewoman in her running clothes.

The pair have been friends for over 30 years, and in a reel she posted to her Instagram, Davina told her followers, “I absolutely love this woman.”

Davina told her 1.6 million followers: “Today was the day!!! @ladygardenfoundation challenge was EPIC!!!!

‘This is the most family and pet friendly run I’ve ever done, 5 or 10km, so many dogs and kids… some on scooters and bikes, some walking… everyone was smiling, it was really joyful…

‘It was a brilliant reason to get back into running and my daughter Holly started running for it and has the bug! She is a natural talent!!! Go go Holly!!! #pride

“And thank you Anna McDonald and @mdlondon for always being my sporting side-kicks.”
