Man, 39, charged with torture and murder of toddler after 2-year-old boy was found unconscious in a house

A man has been charged with the torture and murder of a toddler in a rural Queensland town.
The two-year-old boy was found unconscious in a home in Gordonvale one September morning two years ago.
Paramedics rushed the baby to Cairns Hospital, but the toddler died soon after.

An investigation into the boy’s death was opened after hospital officials discovered suspicious injuries to the child’s face and body.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with both torture and manslaughter.
He will appear before the Magistrate Court in Cairns on Saturday.
