Candice Warner on the first time she met her now husband David Warner: ‘He wasn’t that nice’
They have been married for eight years and have three children together.
But former Australian cricket captain David Warner and his wife Candice didn’t get along right away.
The former Ironwoman has revealed that their first meeting was actually far from a fairy tale and that she didn’t like him very much.
Speaking on Channel 7’s The Morning Show on Friday, the 38-year-old said they first met after the City2Surf race in Sydney when they were introduced to each other by a mutual friend.
“A friend of ours said you should meet David, he’s from your area, he does great things and it wasn’t to meet up for a date, it was literally to meet someone else of the same mind,” she said.

And he just gave me absolute donuts, he gave me nothing at all. But in his defense, he had a girlfriend at the time, so he’s probably thinking, “I’m not going to give anyone else attention.”
The couple married in 2015 and share three daughters together, Ivy Mae, eight, Indi Rae, seven, and Isla Rose, three.
But Candice has said she never imagined they would get married and have three children after their first meeting.

“I walked away from that first first meeting thinking he wasn’t very nice,” she said.
“I definitely didn’t think he would become the father of my children or marry him permanently.
“It was probably the furthest thing I thought of.”
The former Ironwoman is currently doing publicity rounds for her new memoir Running Strong, in which she sheds light on her infamous “toilet run” with Sonny Bill Williams in 2007.
The 2007 incident erupted after a photo was taken of the couple in the men’s bathroom of the Clovelly Hotel, in eastern Sydney.

Although she was single at the time and claimed the pair only shared a kiss, Candice revealed that the media frenzy had caused her mental anguish to the point that she contemplated suicide.
In an interview on Sunrise on Wednesday, the mother was asked by host Natalie Barr if she had “thought of coming out right away” when the scandal erupted.
She said the media attention and subsequent apology she had to give was due to women not having a “voice” at the time.
Explaining how women were treated at the time of the incident, Candice said, “We lived in a society where we didn’t have the voice, women didn’t have the voice that we have now.”

She added, “This was 16 years ago. I had to apologize, I was single, because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That just wouldn’t happen today.
“Our society has changed, there is still a long way to go, but I feel like a woman, I have the confidence to be able to tell my side of the story and be heard.”
She said she wrote her memoir, Running Strong, in part for her three daughters “who in time will be able to read the book.”
“I wanted them to understand my story better, without outside interference or judgment.”
