Breakthrough in manhunt for woman who allegedly robbed half-blind man by ‘pretending to help him get his money from ATM’

A woman has been arrested after a partially blind elderly man was allegedly robbed while trying to withdraw money from an ATM in a shopping center in western Sydney.
The 72-year-old was queuing at the mall in Mt Druitt around 1:30pm on Sunday, March 19, and required assistance due to his visual impairment.
As he waited for staff to help him, police allege a woman, 24, approached him and offered to help him.
The man accepted the woman’s help, but while the transaction was being processed, she reportedly withdrew a larger amount than requested.
The police would like to get in touch with a woman who may be able to help with the investigation. It is not suggested that she is guilty of the alleged robbery
She is said to have subsequently fled, sparking outrage after the story was shared.
Police launched a public appeal to help identify the woman involved in the incident.
On Friday, NSW police confirmed a woman had been arrested following an investigation.
The unnamed woman was taken to Mt Druitt police station and “is now assisting police with the investigation.”
