Joe Biden ‘obstructed justice’ in Hunter tax probe, top Republicans claim

‘This would be obstruction of justice’: Republicans demand to know if Biden thwarted criminal investigation of his son Hunter after IRS whistleblower bombshell claims

  • The GOP threatens to delve deeper into the tax affairs of the president’s son
  • Republicans have long argued that Hunter Biden is guilty of influence influence
  • An IRS whistleblower is reportedly ready to make their claims public

Joe Biden has been charged with “obstruction of justice” for attempting to thwart a federal investigation into his son Hunter’s business dealings.

Top Republicans claimed his administration is interfering with the investigation, which has been ongoing since 2018, by blocking an attempt to charge the 53-year-old with tax evasion.

It follows claims by a whistleblower to the Internal Revenue Service that “clear conflicts of interest” led to “preferential treatment” by officials.

Mike Turner, a Republican congressman from Ohio, warned the Biden family that his party wants an investigation of its own.

A whistleblower to the IRS alleges that the Biden administration interfered with a tax evasion investigation involving Hunter BIden, the president’s son.

“This would be an obstruction of justice and certainly be pursued here in Congress,” Turner told Fox News earlier on Thursday.

“Ultimately, we will find questionable transactions and certainly questionable activity,” the 63-year-old, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, added.

James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, said Hunter Biden has been involved in “deceptive, shady business schemes.”

He said the ventures, which he did not detail, led to the president’s relatives “raising millions from foreign adversaries like China.”

Comer heads what is known as the oversight committee in the House of Representatives. It is the main research panel of the chosen body.

He claimed earlier this week that as many as nine of Biden’s family members have benefited from their connections to the commander in chief.

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, who led a four-year investigation into the Biden family, accused them of “influence peddling.”

“They must have been assured that our bipartisan justice system would treat them with kid gloves and preferential treatment,” he told DailyMail.com.

“Hopefully, the IRS whistleblower’s testimony will finally lead to the Bidens being treated equally.”

The New York Post reported Wednesday that IRS investigators are looking into a $2 million loan allegedly taken by Hunter Biden.

He claimed to have used the money to pay a tax bill on income earned abroad.

The paper also said the anonymous whistleblower has said he is ready to testify before the House of Representatives and make his claims public.

Hunter Biden’s business dealings have long angered members of the GOP, who accuse the president’s son of exploiting his family ties to win lucrative contracts abroad.

He previously had business interests in China and Ukraine, though the longtime lobbyist denies any wrongdoing.

The ex-Navy reservist, who was kicked out of the army in 2014 for testing positive for cocaine, was in the spotlight again last week.

He appeared on the president’s recent trip to Ireland, despite White House officials insisting he not attend any official events.

Since Joe Biden took office, the administration has insisted that the president never speak to his son about his business dealings nor be involved in them.

Sources close to the president also said he has never spoken to the US Justice Department about investigations into members of his family.
