Late in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first round series between the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers, hot mics caught Panthers center Eric Staal yelling at Bruins forward Tomas Nosek for a high hit.

In a corner fight in the third period while following a check on Staal, Nosek raised his elbow and appeared to hit Staal on the head, sending him to the ice.

The hit was not noticed by any on-ice umpire, and Nosek was not penalized for the violation.

During a stoppage in play, Staal went to his bench and called Nosek right into the microphone of ESPN reporter Ray Ferraro.

“Good hit, good clean hit, that’s f***in nice,” Staal shouted sarcastically to which Nosek responded by telling him to shut up.

Things got tense late in the game between the Panthers and Bruins after a hit by Boston’s Tomas Nosek (92) off Florida’s Eric Staal (not pictured)

A still furious Stall yelled again, “Good clean hit you f***in loser,” before sitting on the couch.

This incident came a day after Toronto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting made a similar hit on Tampa Bay Lightning defender Erik Cernak.

Cernak was injured and left the game while Bunting was awarded a match penalty and sent off. Bunting was later suspended for three games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.

Player Safety has not announced anything about a hearing for Nosek’s hit.

The Panthers won the game by a final score of 6-3 to tie the series 1-1. Game 3 is Friday night in Sunrise, Florida.
