MAFS star ‘regrets’ having the Covid vaccine after being forced to get the jab to appear on the show

MAFS star says he ‘regrets’ Covid vaccine after being forced to get the jab to appear on show: ‘I so wish I never did’

He previously made headlines for claiming he would “never get the Covid-19 vaccine” just weeks before agreeing to get the jab as part of his application to star in Married At First Sight.

Now, nearly two years after Daniel Holmes rose to fame on the Channel Nine dating show, the 32-year-old says he “regrets” his decision.

Holmes, a bodybuilder who recently made headlines after admitting a 10-year addiction to anabolic steroids, wrote on Instagram Stories earlier this month, “I really wish I never got the shot.”

“Ah, too late now, but absolutely sorry,” he added.

Endemol Shine, the production company behind MAFS, had required all cast and crew to be fully vaccinated while filming the show in late 2021.

About a month before embarking on the experiment as an intruder, Holmes had shared a fiery Facebook post claiming he would never get the Covid shot because it took away his “liberties.”

“They will have to tie me up before I get vaccinated,” the Brisbane bodybuilder wrote on Sept. 25 in the now-deleted post.

‘Not because I don’t believe in it, but because if I don’t, they’ll take my freedoms away. It is the oldest entry in the sales ledger. Get the prospect to say yes and they’ll be easier to convert,” he added.

But as soon as Holmes was cast on Married At First Sight in October 2021, he promptly agreed to get both Covid-19 shots.

It was around this time that Holmes kicked his steroid addiction, having used the bodybuilding drug from the age of 23.

In May 2022, Holmes told Daily Mail Australia that becoming addicted to steroids was one of the biggest regrets of his life as it “completely screwed up” his metabolism.

“I eat so clean, but it’s very hard for me to get skinny now,” he said.

“If I was on steroids now I’d be shredded, but I’m not because it’s been eight months and my body is still trying to get back to normal, almost like I can feel it.”

“Don’t be inspired by the steroid scene. It is not good. It’s a drug addiction. It’s a straight-up drug addiction.’

Daniel said he didn’t realize he was addicted to steroids until he decided to stop.

“It had just become a normal part of my life. I would sometimes tell people I got rid of it, but we never really get rid of it – we just lower the dose and do it less often. You know, it’s scary,” he revealed.
