Kelly Clarkson burst into tears on her show on Tuesday as she discussed how her daughter is being bullied at school amid a battle with dyslexia.

The 40-year-old entertainer, who shares daughter River Rose, eight, and son Remington Alexander, seven, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 46, opened The Kelly Clarkson Show as she spoke to Henry Winkler, 77, who has opened up about his own battle with dyslexia.

“I dropped my daughter off at school yesterday and she’s dyslexic,” the Fort Worth, Texas-born star told the iconic Happy Days protagonist, delving into how she finds him an inspirational figure.

She said, “You told me you’re dyslexic too – I love that, to tell my daughter that you’ve written about 40 books and you’re dyslexic.”

In the appearance, Clarkson said daughter River was “bullied” at school because she “couldn’t read” at a similar pace to her classmates during her battle with the learning disability.

Clarkson noted a number of other famous people who have been open about their struggles with dyslexia, a group that includes Anthony Mackie and Zachary Levi. The My Life Would Suck Without You artist said, “It really empowered her that you guys are so open about it.”

Winkler cited statistics indicating that one in five children is affected by dyslexia.

Said the Barry star, “She’s part of the tribe,” before saying to the camera, “River! How you learn has nothing to do with how brilliant you are.’

Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after seven years of marriage, finalizing the split a year ago.

Clarkson appeared on the Show todaywhere she talked about how she and ex Blackstock took their kids on summer vacation after their split.

The A Moment Like This singer said: ‘Obviously it’s been a rough couple of years, so it was really important for me to take a break. The children were with me and with their father.

“It was nice because they usually have to travel a lot because of our divorce, so we were both in Montana, so it was the first time I think my kids felt more centered as well.”
