Jack Black makes his solo debut on the Hot 100 Singles charts with his new song Peaches
Nearly two decades after first hitting the Hot 100 charts as one half of Tenacious D, Jack Black has hit the charts solo.
The 53-year-old singer and actor β who made headlines earlier this month for confirming a 20th Anniversary School of Rock reunion β debuted at 83 on the Hot 100 charts for his song Peaches, according to Billboard.
The actor plays Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, featuring the Peaches song, a loving tribute to his beloved Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).
The song was released on April 7 through Illumination/Nintendo/Back Lot Music (a subsidiary of Universal Pictures), with 5.8 million U.S. streams and 6,000 first week downloads, through April 13, via data from Luminate.
The song also debuted at #6 on the Digital Song Sales charts, with a music video also released on April 7, directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

The music video shows Black dressed all in green, much like his animated character Bowser, playing a peach piano as he belts out the tune, staring at a portrait of Princess Peach next to a bowl of peaches.
As part of Tenacious D, along with Kyle Gass, Black appeared on the Hot 100 in 2006 with their hit song from the movie of the same name, The Pick of Destiny, which peaked at 78 on the singles chart.
Tenacious D also has four albums that charted on the Billboard 200: 2001’s Tenacious D (#33), 2006’s The Pick of Destiny soundtrack (#8), 2012’s Rize of the Fenix ββ(#4), and Post- Apocalypto from 2018 (#93).
The Pick of Destiny and Rize of the Fenix ββboth reached No. 1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.
Black’s only other solo Billboard entry was Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy featuring Jason Segel, which reached #45 on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart in 2010.
The singer-actor recently made headlines for his surprise cameo β alongside singer Lizzo β in the Disney Plus Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
The episode titled Guns for Hire followed Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) visiting the lush Outer Rim planet known as Plazir-15, with Grogu aka Baby Yoda in tow.
The planet is ruled by the power couple known as The Duchess (Lizzo) and Captain Bombardier (Black).

The Duchess took a big liking to the adorable Grogu in the episode, with Grogu even using his powers from The Force to help her win an interstellar lawn game similar to bocce.
The actor also recently confirmed that there is a planned reunion with the cast of his 2003 comedy School of Rock, starring 10-year-old Miranda Cosgrove, Sarah Silverman, Joan Cusack and Mike White.
βWe are going to get together and have a 20th anniversary. We like to jam,β said Black ET. “I look forward to seeing all the adults at School of Rock,” he said.
The actor, 53, marveled that his once-school-aged co-stars are now grown adults.
“All those kids β love this β they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all about 30,” he said.
Jack Black reprises his role as Joseph Stalin in Hulu’s History of the World: Part II and portrays Po in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
He’s currently on the big screen as Bowser in the highly anticipated The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
He will also return as Po in Kung Fu Panda 4 and voice Claptrap in the highly anticipated Borderlands video game adaptation.
