The dramatic moment in which a woman was knocked down when an e-bike rider crashed into her before fixing his bike and allegedly fleeing was captured on video.

Tash Dowling was walking down the road near her Northern Beaches home at night when the teen crashed into her from behind, dragging her ten feet across the gravel.

Footage of the brutal hit and run was captured on CCTV, which showed Ms Dowling as she straightened herself after the impact and found herself facing the boy lying on the ground across from her.

The teen was then seen picking himself up and stumbling over to check on his bike.

“I started a conversation with the person, but they got up, fixed their bike and drove off,” she said A current situation.

The collision left Ms Dowling battered, bruised and in shock after the teenager left her on the road.

“So I think my heart sank a little bit then for one person’s condition, not really caring about another person,” she said.

“To think they could have hit someone middle-aged and not know if they were okay or not, they didn’t care if I was okay or not.”

Ms Dowling said she tried to run out of the way after seeing an approaching light coming behind her that didn’t make any sound.

But she was blindsided by the teen who left her to limp back home alone.

Curl Curl councilor David Walton said the rising popularity of e-bikes in the area has increased the danger to pedestrians.

He said there were too many near misses where pedestrians were not given the right of way.

The ex-police officer urged e-bike riders to slow down and signal on foot, while keeping a safe distance of one and a half meters.

Meanwhile, Northern Beaches Council said it is working with local police and a traffic commission to address the issue.

It is expected to conduct a safety audit of electric bicycles, scooters, roller skates, skateboards and other bicycles on local trails in a few months.

The council will discuss the results as soon as they are available.

The council said there had been 30 incidents involving e-bikes and e-scooters since the start of the year.

This is more than 18 recorded in 2022 for the same period.

Police said authorities would like to talk to the rider who has been described as 15 to 16 years old, with a slim build and brown shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with information that could help police is urged to contact Manly Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Vision of the ‘low act’ sparked outrage on social media with some calling for the bikes to be banned.

“These bikes don’t belong on the road. If they should have rego and insurance. This is a low act,’ someone said.

“Learn to ride a bike, ebiker,” said another.
