Carol Vorderman reveals she was attacked by a monkey in isolation before I’m A Celeb All Stars

Carol Vorderman has described a monkey attack and revealed that she took part in “bikini trials” during her isolation period prior to filming for I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

The TV presenter, 62, will be featured as part of the All Stars line-up which will air on Monday 24 April for three weeks on weekdays, with the final week clashing with the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 May.

A new trailer released last week showed Vorderman and Helen Flanagan about to face terrifying trials, with the Countdown host in particular facing a bungy jump.

But before she got stuck in the jungle life, Carol has revealed that the period of isolation before joining her campmates was just as overwhelming.

Carol took to her social media profiles on Monday morning and detailed, “I am a celebrity… South Africa starts a week today.

“Well, it was recorded, as you know, at the end of last year. And all the camp mates, I am one of them, had to go into isolation for a week before entering the camp.

‘So in the last week leading up to the first program coming out on ITV, you’re going to experience that isolation with me!

“The monkey attacks, the hippos, the sports, the bikini experiments, everything. You and me together, stay with me.’

She captioned the post, “I take you to see how I spent my week before going to camp last September. I’m going to show you my trip to South Africa and how I spent my week in seclusion, with an onslaught of monkeys, mating calls from hippos, lots of exercise and beautiful sunsets.

“I can’t wait to share it all with you and take you for this week before going to Camp Xx.”

Before entering the jungle for a second time, Carol admitted that her biggest challenge was “walking the plank” during her stint in 2016, so it could be scary.

Elsewhere, former Coronation Street actress Helen, 32, is seen throwing herself into the challenge as she bounces over balls to reach the stars.

Another clip sees Carol screaming on the floor in an unknown trial and Helen fishing through walls of slime to find stars for camp meals.

The series kicks off on Monday 24 April and will air on weekdays for three weeks, with the final week clashing with the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 May.

The ITV Press Center wrote on Twitter on Wednesday: ‘Confirmed: I’m a celebrity… South Africa starts Monday 24 April at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.’

A host of stars from the series have been revealed so far, including boxer Amir Khan, 36, Helen and Carol.

They will be joined by the late Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell, 64, Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo, 30, Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder, 60, retired javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, 62, and former England international cricketer Phil Tufnell , 56.

Rumor has it that Myleene Klass will also appear on the show, which was filmed last year, as one of the latecomers, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

More stars appearing in the pre-recorded series will be announced in due course.

The new series sees the return of some of I’m A Celebrity’s most memorable campmates…Get Me Out Of Here! in the brand new setting of South Africa.

The challenges will be bigger and more difficult and the environment tougher and more unforgiving than the usual Australian jungle.

With no public vote, they will compete against each other in a battle to become the first-ever I’m A Celebrity Legend.

Ant said, “It’s a question we’re always asked… who would you take back to the jungle? So to get this chance to make a brand new show in South Africa and put some of our previous camp mates back to the test was the dream.”

Dec added, “It’s bigger and wilder than we hoped, so viewers are in for a real treat!”

Viewers see a group of 15 soap opera stars, reality TV personalities and sports icons enter the camp.

That’s what a source said earlier The sun: ‘It’s a different format than Australia, who knows when and where celebrities will enter the camp, literally anything could happen.

“It’s not clear how many will start in the camp or how many will be at the end when someone is crowned king or queen of the jungle, possibly for a second time.

“It’s literally the best of I’m A Celebrity, but there are some twists and surprises along the way for viewers and campers, so it won’t be as easy as they might think.”
