His departure was confirmed in an email to Hit Network staff on Monday – the day all major radio shows returned from the two-week Easter poll break.
Edwards had been off the air without explanation the week before the poll break, with another presenter, Nic Kelly filling in for him.
“Nobody knows for sure what’s going on. Abbie seems to be getting on well with Rohan on air, but people are wondering if things aren’t so rosy behind the scenes,” said a source.

Edwards had been with the Hit Network for over six years. He joined Hot Nights after leaving his role as midday announcer for Brisbane’s B105.
In another blow to Hot Nights, executive producer Max Corstorphan, who had been running the show since its launch in early 2022, also stepped down several weeks ago.
An SCA spokesman said Edwards had left the network to pursue “other interests” and would not be drawn into speculation about a split with Chatfield.
“Rohan Edwards has made the decision to leave his role as host of the Hit Network’s Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield show to pursue other interests,” the company told Daily Mail Australia.
“The Hit Network wishes Rohan all the best for his future.”
No reason was given for Corstorphan’s departure.

Chatfield broke into the entertainment industry with her blockbuster podcast It’s a Lot, which launched shortly after her appearance on The Bachelor.
The podcast was eventually picked up by SCA-owned “audio destination” LiSTNR, which led to her hosting her own radio show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield.
Chatfield, who had never hosted a radio show prior to Hot Nights, will air weeknights starting at 7 p.m. as he continues to tape episodes of It’s a Lot.
She is known for discussing adult topics on her podcast, often describing lewd acts in detail and sharing her own sexual experiences.
