A Virginia couple’s gender reveal has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after their adorable four-year-old daughter accidentally popped a confetti-filled balloon into the air.

Candice Pope Ross thought she and her husband were about to make the most heartwarming gender reveal video featuring their daughter Finely, but things didn’t quite go to plan.

The four-year-old was instructed to pop the huge black helium balloon with a pair of scissors, but instead cut it off the string and flew into the air.

The TikTok video, which has been viewed more than 30 million times, shows Finely happily counting down to the big moment and giggling as the balloon is released as her mom Candice exclaims, “No Finely!”

Her husband tried to reach the balloon, but missed it by several centimeters.

It’s unclear how many people attended, but several people can be heard gasping as one of them added, “Oh my god.”

Then they burst out laughing as the balloon flew further away.

Off camera Candice said Finely and then started crying. The four-year-old thought her younger sibling was actually in the balloon and had accidentally sent her away, according to WTVR.

The epic bust had the family scrambling for a second gender reveal attempt, but this time they decided to keep it simple by blowing glitter from Candice’s hand.

The family refused to share the gender of their baby.

Several onlookers were amused by the hilarious video posted to Candice’s TikTok last week.

“It’s not the gender reveal you wanted, but it’s the one everyone deserves,” one person wrote.

“She said no brother or sister for me!” added another.

Another chimed in, “I guess we’ll never know.”

The botched gender reveal was similar to several others that didn’t go as planned.

In 2017, an unknown couple attempted to reveal the sex of their baby by hitting a black balloon with a flat bat.

The pair were seen hitting the balloon a few times until it then floated away.

Despite the fact that the balloon was whizzing about 30 feet in the air, the father-to-be ran after it in an attempt to catch it.

As the balloon moved away from the couple’s yard, the man attempted to hoist himself over a white picket fence, but lost his balance and palm against the barrier.

Meanwhile, another woman has rushed in to help save the day, only to realize she can’t even get on the five-foot fence. Apparently determined, she holds her hand in the air as if to catch the balloon’s string, despite it being well out of human reach.

Everyone gathered for the important moment was heard in both stabs of laughter and screams, “Oh my God” in the background as the mortified father-to-be picked himself up off the floor.
