Ohio State coach and former NFL wide receiver Brian Hartline was rushed to the hospital after a scary ATV accident at his home — but says he’s “fine.”
The university released a statement about the incident on Sunday night, saying, “Ohio State assistant football coach Brian Hartline and a friend, not affiliated with Ohio State, were transported to Riverside Hospital early this morning with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in an ATV. accident on his property.
“According to Hartline, he hopes to be released from the hospital later tonight.”
Ahead of the school’s statement, Hartline also tweeted an update on his condition.
“I appreciate everyone’s support. I crashed side by side on my property and was taken to the hospital for further examination. I’m fine,” he said before adding an emoji of a pair of praying hands and a greeting.

Details of the incident are sketchy so far, but Hartline is an avid outdoorsman and his Instagram is filled with photos of him on boats and dipping his toes in other adrenaline-fueled activities.
Hartline, who also played WR at Ohio State during his college years, is perhaps known more for his excellent recruiting and coaching ability than his prowess as a player during his career.
He was instrumental in both the recruitment and development of first-round picks such as Terry McLaurin, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams and second-round pick Parris Campbell, among others.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is expected to be picked in the first year of this year’s NFL draft to continue the trend of stud wide outs from the Buckeyes program, while Marvin Harrison Jr. .
Hartline was promoted from wide receiver coach to offensive coordinator ahead of the 2022–23 season.
During his career, which saw him spend six seasons with the Dolphins before playing his senior year with the Cleveland Browns, Hartline recorded 344 receptions, 4,766 yards and 14 touchdowns.
His career high in yardage came during the 2012 season when he recorded 1,083 yards with the Dolphins, while his career touchdown and receptions highs came the following season when he caught 76 passes for four touchdowns.
