  • The dancer fell on stage during a dance at a Coachella performance on Saturday, as onlookers watched in horror
  • She lay motionless on stage before paramedics carried her away on a stretcher
  • Her condition remains unclear and one onlooker reportedly fainted from shock upon seeing the terrifying accident

A Coachella dancer collapsed from rigging while suspended high above a stage during a live performance at the California Music Festival on Saturday.

In terrifying footage, the dancer could be seen spinning upside down about twenty feet from the stage while a DJ played a set, when she suddenly fell as she began to spin upright.

The woman, spinning, plunged to the stage below where she appeared to land hard between a pair of loudspeakers as audience members erupted in horror.

She was said to have been dancing for about five minutes before the fall occurred TMZand it remains unclear whether she hurt herself while dancing and then fell or whether the fall was caused by a mere slip.

It wasn’t the first time a concert worker was injured at Coachella. In 2019, a worker fell to his death while setting up a stage in preparation for the festival.

After the fall, the dancer could be seen lying motionless while fellow dancers came to her aid.

Paramedics were quickly on the scene and she was seen lying motionless on her back as they attended to her and the DJ continued to play.

She was later strapped onto a stretcher and taken away.

The dancer’s condition remains unclear, but the images showed her blinking.

Coachella did not respond to DailyMail.com requests for comment about her condition or the cause of the fall.

Audience members asked the DJ to stop playing while the woman was being treated, according to TMZ, and one audience member reportedly passed out from shock at the sight of the fall.

The incident was not the first dangerous fall in Coachella history.

In 2019, a worker fell to his death while setting up a stage in preparation for the festival.

The worker was a lead rigger and had been a stagehand for Coachella for 20 years, according to the festival, which described him as “a colleague, a friend, a family member.”

“He has been with our team in the desert for 20 years doing what he loved. He was a hard working and loving person who cared deeply about his team. As our lead rigger he was responsible for the countless incredible shows that have been put on at the festival.’

Officials said he fell off a roof while setting up a stage and had died by the time authorities arrived.

Before that, a 24-year-old woman from Oakland died in 2014 after she collapsed from a drug overdose at the festival.

Kimchi Truong was rushed to hospital after passing out at a taxi stand at the festival, only to die several days later. It was believed that her overdose was caused by a mix of drugs and alcohol.

And in 2008, a 21-year-old festival-goer died after becoming unresponsive at a private campsite not affiliated with the official Coachella site.
