West Ham 2-2 Arsenal: Gunners drop crucial points in title race after Jarrod Bowen equalized for relegation-threatened Hammers just minutes after Bukayo Saka put a penalty wide for the visitors
Arsenal missed crucial points in the title race as they drew 2-2 against West Ham in a dramatic clash at the London Stadium.
The Gunners took a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the game at the London Stadium thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard.
They appeared to cruise before the Hammers were awarded a penalty after Gabriel fouled Lucas Paqueta, with Said Benrahma making no foul from the spot.
The lifeline boosted the struggling hosts and they started the second half well, but disaster struck when Mikhail Antonio was deemed to have handled Gabriel Martinelli’s shot.
However, Arsenal talisman Saka dramatically widened his penalty before a hopeful ball from Thilo Kehrer found Bowen and he blasted past Ramsdale – although the Gunners number 1 should perhaps have done better.
