Carrie Bickmore shares a touching tribute to her mother as the teacher retires: ‘You are a pioneer, an inspiration, a shining star’

Carrie Bickmore shared a sweet tribute to her mother on her retirement day.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, the former star of The Project spoke fondly of her mother, Jennie Bickmore-Brand, who was a lecturer at Curtin University, Perth.

The mother and daughter posed side-by-side in photos shared on the social media platform, cuddling up close, the family resemblance evident.

“My wonderful mom just retired (I think she’s coming back) after 50 years of contributing to education,” 42-year-old Carrie wrote.

“Mom, you are a pioneer, an inspiration, a shining star. You did it all while raising children, living hard and loving and all with a gentle touch and a big smile.

She concluded, “Enjoy the next chapter…whatever it holds.”

It comes after the television and radio presenter split from her partner Chris Walker in January.

She has since grown ‘close’ with her Hit FM co-presenter Tommy Little, 38, who is also single following his split from girlfriend Natalie Kyriacou in 2021.

Tommy rushed to the mother-of-three’s side in January when she confirmed her breakup, leading insiders to speculate their friendship could evolve into something more.

In recent months, Tommy has shared several enthusiastic tributes to Carrie on Instagram, and in one post called her the “best in the business” who “lifts everyone around her up and looks good.”

Ahead of her last day on The Project last November, Tommy also treated the blonde bombshell to a private helicopter tour of Melbourne.

He is often seen close to her at glitzy events, including the 2022 Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) last October, where he didn’t leave her side even as guests rose from their tables and mingled with others.

The duo regularly pose for cozy selfies on social media, which has prompted curious fans to wonder if romance is at stake.

Their professional relationship began in 2016 when Tommy joined Carrie on The Project’s panel.

A year later, the pair embarked on Hit Network’s Melbourne drive show together in 2017, gaining instant cult status thanks to their entertaining and organic banter.

Carrie announced her split from longtime partner Chris in January this year via Instagram, saying the couple is focusing on co-parenting their three children, Ollie, 15, Evie, seven, and Adelaide, four.

The news came just a month after Carrie presented her final episode of Channel 10’s The Project after stepping down to spend more evenings at home with her family.
