Masterchef star Khanh Ong recently had a life-changing experience: a hair transplant.

After feeling self-conscious and struggling with his hair loss for years, the reality TV star, 29, now feels like he’s a completely new person.

Hair grafts are extracted in follicular units consisting of 1-4 hairs using a follicular unit extraction (FUE) method.

A hair transplant in Australia can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000 depending on the extent of the hair loss and the type of procedure you have had.

During a candid Q&A session with his social media followers, Khan explained his decision-making process in choosing a clinic and the type of procedure he wanted.

He said, ‘I went to a few places and they were like, This is what needs to happen in this amount of time. You must shave your head so that we can do it in due time. So I was like, no, well, like this isn’t like a motorcycle service.”

The popular chef ultimately chose Brisbane-based Gro Clinics, an Australian clinic recommended by a friend, because they listened to his concerns and worked with him to create a plan tailored to his specific needs .

“They were like they listened to my issues, what I needed, what I wanted to happen, and they negotiated and helped plan my kind of like hair thing, which is better,” he shared.

The cost of the procedure was not insignificant, with Ong revealing it started at around $10,000 but eventually doubled as he wanted to keep his hair on top and add more volume.

He emphasized that this was a personal investment in his life and chose to stay in Australia – rather than go to Turkey where he can get it for a fraction of the price – for the procedure to have easy access to the clinic if any concerns should arise. .

In terms of postoperative experience, Ong was pleasantly surprised by the lack of pain he experienced.

He said, “I really thought I was going to be in pain, but I’m not. I’m really having a lot of fun and I’m fine… It’s no worse than getting a tattoo.’
