Matt Baker has revealed that one of the animals on his family farm has died.

The TV presenter, 45, posted the news about their 13-year-old Cairn Terrier on Thursday and a series of Instagram snaps of the pooch.

Matt, who appeared on Channel 4 series Our Farm in the Dales with his family, wrote: So sad, we said goodbye to Isla, our oldest and smallest cairn at 13 years old.

“She was gentle, kind, tough, lightning fast, and a patient, gentle mother.

“She was the one with the voice to let us know when they all wanted to be in or out. We will miss her #cairnterrier #doglovers #friendforlife.”

Matt added in the comments to the post, “The reason we love dogs so much is that they only break our hearts when they leave us.”

Fans and celebrity friends also took to social media to send their condolences, including Steps star Ian H Watkins, who wrote, “Big Hugs.”

Meanwhile, others said, “I’m sorry to hear this,” and “It doesn’t matter how many years we have with our pets, it’s not enough.” So for your loss of Isla, I’m sure Paul Ogrady will take care of her. ‘

Matt and his animal-loving family appeared on the Channel 4 show Matt Baker: Our Farm In The Dales to reveal their life on the farm.

Leaving his life in London behind, he moved back to his family farm in the Yorkshire Dales in 2021 after his mother Janice had an accident while working on her farm.

He decided to take over the farm with his family and the Channel 4 show documented his journey.

At one point during the show’s three series, Matt fought back tears when he was able to fix one of his dad’s cars that was special to him.

Hearing the engine roar, the TV presenter said, “I tell you what, that brings me back. Even that engine. That touched my heart.’
