Home and Away star Tammin Sursok relives her anguish over fear her daughter was caught up in the Nashville school shooting: ‘It was completely and utterly traumatic’
Tammin Sursok has spoken openly about her anxiety as a young mother following a shooting at a Nashville school on March 27.
The former Home and Away star, who has been based in the US since 2006 and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, said she “panicked” about her nine-year-old daughter’s safety when news of the tragedy broke.
Unable to confirm the location of the shootings, Tammin said her horror grew until she was finally able to confirm that her child, Phoenix, was safe.
“I didn’t know what school it was [happening at],’ said the dark-haired mother of two Nine in an interview Thursday.
“I didn’t know if the school had a different nickname… For a few minutes I had no idea what was going on,” she explained.

“I called her school,” Tammin continued, “and they said it was closed and everyone was safe. But you don’t know, is it one shooter? Are they alone, have they left? You don’t have that information.’
Six people, including three children the same age as Phoenix, were killed when a gunman burst into Covenant School. a church-run elementary school in Nashville.
The shooter was 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who was once in school.
While Hale’s motive is still unknown, police say she had detailed, drawn maps of the school and had been monitoring it for some time.
The former Home and Away star – pictured – who has been based in the US since 2006 and lives in Nashville, said she “panicked” about her nine-year-old daughter’s safety when news of the tragedy broke.
“It was completely traumatic,” Tammin told Nine.
“Nashville is still reeling from the aftermath. Parents are scared and the community is broken.’
It comes after Tammin took to Instagram shortly after news of the school murders broke.
Tammin can be seen in the moving clip pacing and crying in her kitchen.
“There has been an active shooter in one of the schools in Nashville… It’s right next to my daughter’s school. She’s in lockdown, she’s fine,” Tammin said in the video.

She described the ordeal as “too close to home” for many parents in America, where school shootings occur almost every year.
Tammin described the horror she felt after receiving the call that there was an active shooter within walking distance of the Phoenix school, calling the ordeal “a parent’s worst nightmare.”
The star, who has often spoken out in favor of greater gun control, currently lives in the US with husband Sean McEwan and their two children, daughters, Phoenix and Lennon.
