Ukrainian boy, 6, is left in disbelief when his father returns from the war

“Is this a dream?” Watch as a Ukrainian boy, 6, is left in disbelief when his father returns from war

A six-year-old Ukrainian boy thought he was dreaming when his father unexpectedly returned from war in the middle of the night.

The emotional moment was captured on film by the boy’s mother, Alyona Berezovskyi, 27, who wanted to recall the moment when her partner Evgen Berezovskyi, 33, came home.

In the clip, filmed in the Ukrainian town of Zviahel, Stanislav Berezovskyi is seen fast asleep before his father enters the room – and wakes up in disbelief.

The father and son embrace briefly before the six-year-old goes back to bed.

Then when he wakes up again in the morning, Stanislav thinks it was all a dream.

He tells his mother: “I dreamed that dad had already arrived at noon.”

His mother then takes him around the house and it becomes clear that his father has really returned from the fight.

The family was left in tears of joy – and they hope the scene can be repeated across the country, where the 14-month war with Russia continues.

Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with a number of cities in the east and south now under Russian occupation – and fierce fighting is still ongoing.

Mrs. Berezovskyi said, “My son thought his father’s nightly arrival from the war was just a dream, but it turned out to be true.

“I anticipated my son’s reaction, there was so much joy for him and it was a great relief that my husband and father of my child is back home and with his family.

“The sense of security and tenderness was overwhelming with my son’s response.

“We had tears and joy at the same time, we are both very grateful to him for protecting our country.

“We have the hope that the war will end soon and that every child will meet their father who returns from the war.”

It comes as a new leak of classified documents revealed that the scale of infighting within Moscow’s government agencies may be greater than previously believed.

The documents, apart from the alleged US intelligence leak that has been widely reported in recent days, allege that the Russian government is arguing over the number of casualties its armies suffered fighting in Ukraine.

The new 27-page batch also reveals how Vladimir Putin was forced to hold a peace summit between two of his most high-profile warlords — and how deep U.S. spy agencies have penetrated the despot’s intelligence network and command.

It also suggests that the previous US intelligence breach could contain even more material than has already been released to the public.
